S11 ep 5

Ten-ohyes

I think that might have been the most Chibnall-y episode to ever Chibnall. Fabulously entertaining and fun and utterly ridiculous and PEOPLE and FAMILY and [redacted - i.e. the threat thing, which... *hands*].

A lot of character stuff for those that want to delve into it, Imma just gonna sit over here and chuckle to myself.

Well, that's encouraging. Looking forward to it.

(It's episode five, btw.)

I wish I liked it. The Guardian recap says a lot of what I feel:

To its credit, The Tsunagra Condumdrum boasts an awesome spaceship, an impressive guest cast (led by Casualty’s Suzanne Packer as General Cicero), a wonderfully deadpan android and an amusing subplot involving a pregnant man. To its detriment, there’s a rather over-reliance of exposition–ish pseudo-science (the antimatter passage just went on) and once again, here is an episode without very much of a real villain. And come to think of it, there isn’t really much of a “conundrum” to speak of at all. This was whizzy and bright and perfectly fine. But call me old-fashioned, right now I’m crying out for a jolly good alien invasion.

The script just feels clunky to me, far too heavy with the exposition and villains nothing like evil enough. And a developing habit of just throwing sentient beings "away", as if that deals with the problem. What happens when it gets hungry again?

I love the ones where everyone is likeable and interesting and the situation is the problem.

I agree, a very Chibnall episode. I just watched it, and it felt like 42 (the S3 episode) meets Torchwood.

Yes, with a PTING! :-D

When I think about it, I really like that one of the highest danger levels in the universe goes to a tiny imp that doesn't give a damn about people and EATS EVERYTHING.

I wonder how long we have to wait before someone designs a knitting or crochet pattern for a Pting.
