So, here is where you should go for good reviews & meta
Promethia found this wordpress. I have only started to poke around, but there are two sets of reviews - one lot delving into the meta, and another that's group reviews, with lots of fascinating insights:
https://downtime2017.wordpress.com/
They're all thoughtful and smart, without any of the 'I didn't like it, therefore it is rubbish' or 'Thank goodness Moffat's gone!' that you may get elsewhere.
Links to individual eps:
Meta (Tiberian Thoughts):
Sheffield Steel, or a Subjective Look at the Thirteenth Doctor – #1 – “The Woman Who Fell to Earth”
Sheffield Steel, or a Subjective Look at the Thirteenth Doctor #2: “The Ghost Monument”
Sheffield Steel, or a Subjective Look at the Thirteenth Doctor #3: “Rosa”
Group reviews (Bit of Adrenaline, Dash of Outrage):
Our Thoughts on “The Woman Who Fell to Earth”
Our Thoughts on “The Ghost Monument”
Our Thoughts on “Rosa”
Our Thoughts on “Arachnids in the UK”

It's so funny the different ways I watch each era. I just had a week off work and for some reason spent most of it rewatching the entirety of RTD-era Who, which I haven't watched in...well, at least 7 years. I had SO MANY thoughts and feelings which I probably should have written down, but mostly just drowned in decades-old emotions like an idiot. I can't watch that era the way I watch the Moffat era - I started tracking themes and symbolism and recurring motifs, but couldn't do more than that. I analyse it in a different way. I think I still watch it with the same brain I had when it was on the first time. Though I am now hyper-aware of Moffat's episodes, and how far they foreshadow all his preoccupations. And also of how the Doctor's 'Ponding' phase (remember that?) is hinted at the end of Tennant's era ('Jackson Lake'). And gosh I do love The Waters of Mars. For many many reasons, but also for this now extremely prescient line: Water is patient, Adelaide. Water just waits. It wears down the clifftops, the mountains, the whole of the world. Water always wins.
Anyway, tldr, I've just spent a week reliving my teenage DW emotions (a TERRIBLE IDEA BTW) and I'm glad I have something to latch onto, a lens through which to watch the new series. Thanks to you and Promethia for finding this!

And so say all of us! I can't write it myself (although I am pondering writing about Twice Upon A Time using T.S.Eliot's Little Gidding... It's sort of too perfect not to), so I am beyond grateful SOMEONE can do it. <3

It's sort of like time-travel. Weird, but wonderful.

I think that's probably the issue with Chibnall - we quite simply don't have enough yet to *do* anything. Not that there's going to be anything like what we're used to, but four episodes is not enough to draw anything from.

I haven't watched it in years. Probably should...

You're welcome! ♥

I'm glad you've had an epiphany :)

omg it SUPER IS. I was suddenly viscerally remembering all these thoughts and feelings I had at the time (not all of them about DW!), and had a lot of the same reactions to specific lines and moments that I did back in like 2006.

Very true, and yet I feel like we managed to extrapolate an extremely large proportion of the Moffat Agenda from The Beast Below and the Angels eps :) But maybe that all came later and we didn't realise it at the time.

It is A Lot. I know you've written lots of wonderful meta about The Time Lord Victorious (and how River fits into that mould, etc) and it really is the perfect culmination of Ten's arc. OH TEN.

Well re. Twice then it was more reading the poem and going 'Damn, well that is perfect.' (Much like reading The Hollow Men and knowing it was all Ten.)

I am hesitant to compare ANYTHING to Moffat. He's in a league of his own.
OK, now I have to go look...
My post on The Beast Below
My post on the Angel episodes
Which answers the question - the agenda was definitely there, and I definitely picked up on it. :)
(How much do I still love this? Amy: "You never interfere in the affairs of other people or planets - unless there's children crying."/Doctor: "Yes." MY HEART!)

I still remember my whole flist just screaming 'Handlebars!' after it had aired...

Requiem for my free time
(Anonymous) 2018-11-01 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)Why would you do this?!
:D
I'm totally gonna repay you in kind though.
Re: Requiem for my free time
Because there is no more meta. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet it's maker. It's an ex-meta show.
So finding ACTUAL META is something worth celebrating and sharing.
Re: Requiem for my free time
(Anonymous) 2018-11-01 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)But hey, you never know, like you said, Rusty Who did have some meta. I mean, yes, probably not as much any more, but you know, something.
And aww, yes. <3
It's just that I still have goldenmoonrose's stuff to get through, and that's a lot.
(In case you're interested, to fill this unfortunate void... I may have some Moffat Who meta you might, *might* have not seen? It's a long shot, hell, most of it outright *mentions* you; but still. Maybe, something? We all miss things occasionally.)
Re: Requiem for my free time
The S3 finale. It was like magic (I'm sure you'll know if you've read the post in question). And hey, I've yet to write about Twice Upon a Time. And THoRS for that matter...

Blimey. Well, you won't be bored...

Oh I've missed a ton of stuff, so link me up! And it mentions me?? :D

(Anonymous) 2018-11-02 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)I'll get back to you ;) And yes, it does, concerning a Curse of the Black Spot - Wedding of River Song connection. I was like "I understood that reference!"
