I finally watched Ghostbusters last night
And it was exactly as awesome as I thought/had been told. ♥ ♥ ♥
Went looking for vids, because I figured that SURELY someone had made one to 'Light Em Up' - and yes, there was one, but it was just a straightforward retelling. I did find one called Light It Up, which was fun, and then came across this one, which is short, but utterly delightful:
Please come talk to me! :D

The sister was not impressed with it, but I pointed out that the original wasn't exactly great cinema either. I think it totally lives up to its predecessor in its middle-of-the-road filmatic okay-ness. But with ladies, therefore better.
And Holtzman is, of course, everything. I look up the scene where she dances to DeBarge whenever I need a reminder to live my best life.
Fun story: watched this for the first time with a couple of friends and one of them (ESTJ) says afterwards of the stuffy main character woman whose name I've forgotten 'oh god, is that what I seem like to everybody else?!?' Ummm. Yup. Yes. Pretty much.

How do you make that vid and not include the moment when she licks the gun barrels? O_o
My only two real objections to the movie are:
1) Having three white lady scientists and one black lady who is not a scientist is . . . not a great look. Which is not to say that I didn't love Leslie Jones' character, because she was fab.
2) I don't understand how you could create the whole set-up where the dumb pretty secretary is possessed and making all the people on the street do dance moves with him and not break into the Thriller dance. I figured surely that was the entire point of that whole set-up and then just . . . nothing. Whut.

That is sad indeed. It was properly funny as well as fun (the sheer amount of green slime in the pre-title sequence reassured me immensely). And my beloved other half (who loved Ghostbursters as a child, and was complaining when this one came out that there was no reason to make a new one!) enjoyed it too! :D

Also less rape-y.

LOL. Beautiful.

Who knows? It's only a minute long, but it would seem the most obvious thing to include in ANY vid.

Yeah, this. Which I was well aware of before watching, so could try to put aside for the purposes of general enjoyment, but...

HIS NAME IS KEVIN! Which is my father-in-law's name, which makes it even funnier. Since my f-i-l is sort of... the opposite of that character. But you are right, it's v strange that was left out.

Plus, Hemsworth was killing it.

On the other hand, I used to watch and love The Real Ghostbusters cartoons, and when I saw the original movie for the first time I was severely disappointed. And I still don't think it's any good at all. Not to mention the sequel. The cartoons are great fun, though.

It was pretty much exactly what I expected - when the pre-title sequence had a ton of green slime, I knew it would turn out like it should!

Interesting. I never saw any when I was young, so watched them after I met my husband, who is very attached to the original film (which he saw age... ten, maybe, and adored!)

Knew it was going to be great when there was a copious amount of green slime in the pre-credits sequence! :D

Chris Hemsworth is hilarious in this movie, I think it may be his best role (and he's not even the lead).
The Holtzmann vid was great, although the white flashing did get a bit much.
