Birthday
So, today is
kerkevik_2014/
kerk_hiraeth's birthday. He's going through a pretty rough patch at the moment, so I wondered how to cheer him. Well, he has written a LOT of fic, but sadly does not have a lot of readers - most of his stuff is drabbles/short fic, and he has a very pared down, almost poetic style.
I've pulled out a few pieces for you to try - he mainly writes about Buffy characters, and mostly in his own 'verses (he has many! And many OCs. And a lot of femslash). I am trying to get him to set up an AO3 account, because I think he needs a bigger audience, and also it would be useful for readers to have the stories in chronological order (something not easy on LJ/DW). Individual pieces have notes, so excuse the lack of introduction here.
Waterloo Sunset Angel/Nina drabble
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Spike & Illyria drabble.
Like Seeing Your Very Own Self Looking Back At You Tara & Lisa, 200 words.
Casablanca Buffy & Faith, 200 words.
Please go read & leave some feedback, I think that would be the best present. (If you want more, just follow the links on the posts or on the sidebar.)

Meant to say so earlier, but I was, still am, overwhelmed right now and I certainly was when I saw this.
Be careful of the person who left a comment on Casablanca though; they may be the same person who drew me in with lovely comments before becoming gradually more judgemental; particularly of LGBT 'lifestyle' characters and of me when I posted in support of Planned Parenthood. They may also be the same person who was trolling Rahirah some months back, though I cannot be sure of either it may be safest to beware of people using similar language as that. At the moment I do not have access to the email which that DW is connected to, but as I have been reminded of this comment I will be going back to delete it.
In the meantime watching birdies feeding in veritable squadrons from the feeder out the back of your residence lifts the spirits wonderfully.
Thank you so much elisi; hard to find adequate words for how much your friendship means to me.

Well I was wondering what would be a nice birthday gesture, and then remembered about your hundreds of fics, and thought it'd be nice to share them. For others and for you. ♥

I wasn't about to interact, I thought it was just a comment that had been overlooked - am sad it was not a late happy surprise, but unhappy recognition. I'll let you get rid of it.

:) That sounds wonderful indeed.

If I managed to make your day a happier one, then that is all I wanted. Am glad I can make a difference, even if it's mostly from far away...

Sorry to put a dampener on a wonderful gesture; just recalled what I'd said to Rahirah when she posted and annoyed that I'd not already deleted it.
My biggest regret is being taken in simply by someone complimenting me enough.
I will probably give in eventually and go with AO3; though I do not really want to. Hopefully I will set up something via WordPress or somesuch so that I can at least feel like I have more control over how they look.
I may end up making more political posts etc with my new dreamwidth; at least then I can provide links.
I won't be able to read them but I am collecting certain books in as many editions I can find. I'll pm you about that though.
Almost made it through another birthday; wish this was akin to the one many years ago that I actually forgot (facebook doesn't allow that).
Thanks again,
kerk

Like I said elsewhere, am not bothered about the commenter, just sad that it was not a happy surprise for you.

As others have said, the thing about AO3 is that's where people go to read. So once you bite the bullet, you should be getting some readers. (Tags are important, but I am sure you will rock it.) And good luck with the Wordpress also - it looks nice, but I have never had much to do with it, so can't offer any advice I'm afraid.

That is not a bad idea.
And hope that in future, birthdays will be happier occasions. <3

(I still remember when it was first created, I am so happy it actually worked and is now THE place. <3)
