Royal wedding

If you're not watching, you're missing out! At the very least check out the sermon. But oh, the music...

ETA: Sermon in full:

'The Right Rev. Michael Curry gave an impassioned homily, quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., invoking the power of love and its symbol as the fire that energizes life.' Or as Twitter put it:

And here is the cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason (I'll try to find a better video, right now there are only two):

I got up at 6 a.m. Chicago time to see the wedding. Managed to miss some of the fun of guests arriving and missed her lovely walk, partially by herself - but really enjoyed it. I loved Rev. Curry's address, and I admit to being a little amused at the bemusement of many of the observers: exuberance is not necessarily a staple of royal weddings. Heh.

He may lead the Episcopal Church, but the holiness churches of west and southside Chicago are there in his blood; not surprising, since he grew up here.

Rev Curry was great. Something good to balance the negativity in this world for just a few minutes. At least some people are showing positive leadership...!

I'm a Republican so I'll pass.

Yesterday my nephew, who probably doesn;t care enough to think of himself as a republican, said that a relative's birthday was a week after the (a word I shall spare you).

Says I, very confused, "Christmas?"

My nephew, very patiently, says no, tomorrow."

It took far longer than it should have taken even me to remember what was happening today, and go, "Ah, yeah."

I'd almots forgotten again actually until I saw your post.

Still royalty did give us that wonderful piece of music by Handel, so there is that we can agree on :-)

It was a lovely wedding - and such a good sermon - he reminds me of archbishop Sentamu.

I've never been big on the Royal family sadly, so apart from a couple of highlights I missed it.

For me It's just boils down to more rich people marrying other rich people......

I'm sorry but I didn't want watch that all the way through as I'm not in the mood for it. All I'll say is anyone who comes from a position of privilege can easily afford to spout stuff like this, be that clergy or royalty. And as I do not believe in any kind of god that just makes it doubly irrelevant for me sadly.

I'm sure he's very well meaning, but we've heard it all before and when push comes to shove it means nothing just more empty words as the world slowly moves towards hell....

Yeah, It's been one of THOSE days. :)

Following it through Twitter was certainly a wild ride. :)

I had a very busy day yesterday, but the bits and pieces I saw looked really lovely.
