Well...

OK, so I thought that since I'd actually written this stuff down, I might as well post it.

- Grossness factor up by a million this week! Although they creepiness factor was very well done.

- Stupid stuff: Out of all of them *no one* had a mobile? Pretty unlikely. Also why didn’t they shoot the freaks? I audibly cheered when Jack finally opened fire!

Characters:

- Ianto. Why is he there? I mean he appears to hate everything, so why hasn’t he left? I’m sincerely hoping they’re going to give him some sort of reason for hanging around - because currently he’s just annoying me. He’s obviously ‘the outsider’, doing a bit of ‘telling, not showing’ when the need arises. Please, please let him have a crush on Jack...

- Jack. Charming, but remote. He’s like... a shark or something, where we only get to see the fin and never what’s under the water.

- Toshiko. Still a blank. It’s been 6 episodes already - what’s up with this? (Joss can create a character in 3 minutes, surely Tosh can get fleshed out just a little?)

- Gwen. Still very much the heart of the whole thing, pulled in in spite of herself. One thing - has she never seen ‘Silence of the Lambs’? The ‘villagers’ were obviously Hannibal Lecter’s freaky country cousins. Of course she wouldn’t be able to understand, they were *insane*!

- Owen. Now I wouldn’t say that I *like* Owen, but he’s growing on me because he’s interesting. He’s the only one whose development has been done fairly well I think - snippets here and there, slowly building up a bit of a picture.

- And of course Gwen/Owen. This is obviously not a ‘good’ thing as such, what with poor Rhys and all, but I like how it’s been handled. A kiss to set things in motion 2 weeks ago, and then in this episode things played rather well (see icon). For this show, the set-up has been rather subtle, because although I totally called that Gwen was developing a thing, I was definitely taken back by the last scene - but in a good way. It doesn't matter if it's 'nice' - as long as it makes sense (characterwise) and is interesting, that's all I want. And with Gwen/Owen that's what I got this week.

Also of course [livejournal.com profile] scarlettgirl's fic helped a lot! ;)

Ianto is really getting on my nerves, but Tosh gets an episode next week so maybe we'll find out more about her. I'm enjoying the programme, but it's not 'must see' for me in the way that Bones is at the moment. I thought the Gwen/Owen thing was done really well, and it even made me think fanfic? (so will be checking out those links you posted *g*)

I still like it best for the Welshness, though, and particularly liked this week's trip to the Brecon Beacons, as you can see them from my mum's house where I grew up and she still lives.

A shark with feet. And on land!

(Sorry. Not much else to add since I missed all but the last ten minutes of that episode, but I couldn't resist...)
