Like any generalization there are exceptions, but besides being an amusing read I think Boyne does a good job in supporting his POV. And the perspective on the discrimination women face is very timely. I recall a statement which attributed a lot of the success of 50 Shades of Grey to its cover, as opposed to the typical romance fare. While I can't imagine anyone arguing that it was well written, it does speak to the point of how having control over your own work can make a great deal of difference in how it's perceived.
