I haven't seen Six, but I know from an interview that the idea was to do an arc like Mr Darcy - be nasty at first and then soften as we got to know him. However, that plan was cut short. :( As for Twelve then he comes across as more... autistic than mean? He genuinely doesn't seem to have a clue how he affects people. Although whether he cares about that is another matter...
Eleven is my darling, followed by Seven. Make of that what you will. ;)
