Oooooohhh. Thank you.

Not watching just yet as I have worked all weekend and am a zombie. But soon.

Haha, so I finally watched this--so thank you.

It always amazes me how much editing some of the You Tube-based vidders put into things.

Not sure how I feel about the very broad focus of this one, though. Mind you, that is fighting my own interpretation of a song, so that's often hard to get past.

Did I link you to this medley before?: https://youtu.be/GAKGzmsIPxE

It occurred to me that it maybe could just work for a vid for . . . approximately seasons seven through nine. Which is tempting because they feel like a bit of a tricky, disjointed mess and thus a tricky, disjointed song would seem to fit. The key was that the Take Me to Church part was the Doctor's voice and I Put a Spell on You was Missy and Clara, and then you could build to the season nine finale and Twelve's memory being wiped.

Ah yes. It jars every time Ten & co appear like - you don't fit!!
Oh good, not just me then!

Yes, but I lost it, so thank you! :D
I looooooooove it. It's like, one of the sexiest things I've ever heard.

!!! There are very few quality vids for Clara, so yes, do iiiit!
*cries* What making that first vid did was both to train me to think about everything as vids while also showing me exactly what a crushing amount of work they are. (Never try to convince somebody to make your vid idea. Never. You have no idea what you're asking for.). The result being I have something like six massive vid bunnies in my head (just for Doctor Who, and many mini-bunnies) and I don't know when/if I will ever make them. I'm considering making a post that's just like 'notes on vids I may never make,' just so they're documented for posterity and maybe someone can convince me that one of them is far more urgent than the others. I've got:

Doctor/Clara: Take me to Church/I Put a Spell on You <--- tempting because I don't fully understand what I would want to do with it yet, so still things to discover
Doctor/River: Dancing in the Dark (Springstein) <--- I love Springstein. Perfect song. Sexy, full of hilariously on-the-nose lyrics in this context.
River: Casta Diva (Norma) <---- Someone will make the definitive River vid. I want to it be me.
Moffat Who: East of Eden <--- Obviously should wait until season is over, been obsessed with this music ever since Michelle Kwan skated to it twenty years ago
Moffat Who: Follow <---- also should wait until season is over
Husbands of River Song: Bedrock (Young Money) <--- Crraaaaaaaccck
River & Jack: Mack the Knife <---- all style, no substance, best song in the world

And right now I'm thinking about how you could make a Heather P.O.V. vid to 'Wedding Bell Blues' with a hysterical juxtaposition of dead!pilot!Heather being all stare-y and scary and dead-looking except what we don't realize is she's just hearing the Fifth Dimension in her head the whole time.

Please. Just shoot me. Please.

Actual scenes from inside my brain:

Ti: lets focus and do something meaningful!

Ne: while you were sulking, I came up with four new vids!

Ti: fuuuuucccckkkk yoooouuuuuuuu

Si: let's watch season three again.

Ti: fuck you too.

The Church imagery is so VERY Moffat era.
*sigh* I am stripping this of as much context as humanly possible for you, but *hands*

In the Haereticum (the Vatican’s secret library of blasphemy) there is an ancient book known only as The Veritas. Throughout history, anyone who has ever read it has immediately taken their own life. Radio Times

^^^ Moff, I am begging you. Give me something here. We wants it, precious.

Heh. But sometimes it works! *g*

That's... worryingly brilliant.
IKR? Part of me just wants to make something silly and quick to get over this hump.

All your ideas are fabulous, of course, but do the Church one first. Then you can knock that one off your list! :)
There's probably the most meat to be had there, and having a thorough idea of what I want to do is pretty much the quickest way to kill my desire to do a project, so good in that sense. And, like, naturally, let me make the most massive, interwoven, broad-spreading, meta-tastic thing imaginable.

Obviously, though, in light of the above, best to see out the season.

I read about that far originally, and I am both v excited and also deeply apprehensive. People writing about faith can go wrong in SO MANY WAYS IT ISN'T EVEN FUNNY.
Hmmm, point taken. It is describing a Moff episode, which is not a guarantee against fail, but does raise the potential Relevant To Our Interests to potential fail ratio appreciably.

How would you rate the general fail rate of Moff Who in this area?

What happened to Three Wishes?
Song was too depressing to listen to ad-infinitum the way you need to to vid. Also never got a way to bring it together.

Of course, if you do, then this season will provide a ton of extra material & you'll have to start over. *g*
Pretty much. Or I could just start and trust the Moff to provide the way he did for Radioactive.

I'm trying to think about why I associate churches so much more with Twelve than with Eleven, who arguably has far greater contact with them. It occurs to me that Twelve was born out of a thousand-year war with a church. He's also in general more anti-establishment than Eleven. I think mostly though it may just be that the song came out at the right time and the rawness is just so much more suited to Twelve than Eleven.

Ohhhh, thank you. I very vaguely remember watching that long ago, but I must have been in a minor Doctor Who funk at the time because I definitely never rewatched it, and it is indeed great.

Have downloaded so I can consider it properly.

I too was pondering the lack of clara vids and wondering if they didn't exist or if I just wasn't aware of them.

Am about to run off to work, but thanks for the links. I'm sure I've seen most/all before, but I'll be wanting some when I get done the Clara/Twelve rewatch.

(It is ridiculous how little I've remembered or have processed from season nine. I feel like I'm watching a whole new season, practically.). Just finished the Ashildr episodes last night and the Zygon ones are next.

I keep wanting someone to do a Twelve & Clara vid to U2's Cedarwood Road. I can't even explain why. It just *fits*.
I've never heard that one before. Though, just generally, I'm surprised at how many Doctor Who U2 vids don't exist. Don't tell me the Doctor doesn't think he's Bono half the time.

Just watching Clara vids and thinking about how the show never dealt with any fallout from Clara jumping into the Doctor's timesteam. Of course she was always a bit dysfunctional after that. Of course she was always a little too Doctor-like. She had thousands of years of accumulated experience inside of her somewhere. No, she probably doesn't remember it all in any kind of active way, but like the Doctor has ever had a firm command his memories.

My mind is sticking with those shots in The Pilot as the Doctor is describing time as a city spread out around us or a series of movie stills. With that grid of moments. All happening together. Are thousands of short lives lived in parallel different from a number of very long lives lived in sequence? Can we say that the Doctor jumped into the timestream of the world on a single-minded mission to save it? <--- this strikes me as unbearably corny and yet true
