Watched 'No Country for Old Men' tonight...

Considering it's a (visually very beautiful) movie about a bunch of straight white guys in the south, with the obligatory guns & gruffness etc. etc., I rather appreciated that it veered off the expected script. Lots of people died, but there was no point to it, no hero rising above the fray.


And now I will go & sleep... SUCH a long week. zzzz

I really loved the starkness of the landscape and the characters. The evil hitman guy had me scared out of my wits!

I watched this but remember nothing except my feelings at the end - that it was not what I expected and I was very sad lol. Though my friend at work will ask me every now and then how much I ever lost on a coin toss haha

I quite liked the fact that the ending was so weird - it just took a sharp left turn, and instead of the 'average Joe' beating the bad guy or the old timer saving the day, it just... ended.

That scene made me SO TENSE!!!!! I really think it is one of the best scenes when it comes to just being like "AAAAAAH OMG I CANNOT TAKE THIS TENSION!" lol.

Och...sometimes one needs a movie or book with no real morals and no real good guys/bad guys. Tis more realistic in some aspects (not all...there are heroes and bad guys every day, but not every day is about them).

It... well, I was going to say it subverts stuff, but I don't know if that's the right description. It tells a different story to what you expect.

Javier Bardem is terrifying in that movie. Just chilling. He's like the Terminator but worse, because he's human?

The Terminator has simple instructions, but this psycho operates on completely peculiar rules that only he knows.
