I don't think Moffat meant to offend anyone. What's wrong is that diversity is still an issue.

I didn't read them all. I saw enough. I wouldn't have bothered if I had known.

It's wierd how some people's views can get distorted. I know they are just a minority. They were missing the point.

I just want to enjoy the show.

That was my mistake. I should just stick to LJ comments. I may not always agree with Moffat but I try to explain my perspective on it. Oh well.

I learned this lesson back in the RTD days. Then they hated him, and Moffat was the saviour... And when Chibnall takes over, people will love Moffat again.

It never crossed my mind that Moffat hired Pearl Mackie because of her ethnicity. I was thinking it was cool that "Bill" has a different style of clothing compared to Amy and Clara. I'm a bit of a tom boy myself.

I don't think he hired her ONLY because she was black. But they probably went looking for black actors in particular, because with ordinary open auditions you don't get accurate representation.

And yeah, she's v. cool - hints of Ace. People are hoping she might be from the 90s!

That's life (fandom). People HATED RTD back in the day. It's kinda hilarious how beloved he is now (just look at that thing about Martha) - back then it was 'OH GOD HOW HAS HE BEEN RACIST *THIS* TIME?' (He was always racist. And it was deliberate and evil.)

When I finally getting around to writing 'my' Doctor Who stories, she will be who I will be picturing in my head. Not that Sophie Okenedo, as I've said before to you, wouldn't make for an excellent Doctor; having been, though unacknowledged the current incarnations showrunners, the first non-white companion as well as one of the new show's more memorable guest stars.

"I'm the bloody Doctor, mate!"

I'm so glad to know that :) Much as I like Capaldi. Fingers crossed we'll get there.

Although the suggested actors at the top - two of them seem well beyond telly to me, one's in Supergirl, and the last... well he'd be great, I'm all in favour, but can you imagine Alan Johnson as the Doctor? It'd be even more brain-breaking than Malcolm Tucker :D
