End of an era... in two years time.

From the Radio Times:

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat quits to be replaced by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall

Only a Doctor Who Christmas special will air in 2016. Moffat's final series to be broadcast next year in order to create a “huge event” for fans. Chibnall will begin his tenure in 2018

And this seems quite fitting.

I guess I feel like it drags. Like that break halfway through series 6. I suppose I should be thankful Australia is not one week behind broadcast like before.

Series 9 had half the stories because of the Hybrid theme.

Anyway. I will be more eager to see who the champion will be.

Well, it's a break of a whole year which we've never had before.

I've seen both Broadchurch and Torchwood but I will reserve any possible judgements until I see the new series.

I guess we see general themes etc, but it'll be interesting to see what his Doctor Who will be like.

For example, the Library episodes lay out Moffat's reign pretty well.

In my opinion Broadchurch 2 could have gone better. Whereas with Torchwood series 2 was at its peak. So you can see where I'm conflicted. There are all sorts of contributing factors that influence a show runner, so I feel like I can only speculate. I just want the champion to have good characterization.

Well, he's good at character stuff, even if the plot leaves a lot to be desired...

And I think he was more involved with S2 of Torchwood than S1, when it came to running it, at least. I think with Broadchurch they took a risk on what-ever-it-was-they-did. And most people kept watching.

Torchwood still had it's whole team in series 2. With Broadchurch 2, it was probably done as an example. That not everything can be wrapped up in a nice little package. The two lead characters are now in a different place to start anew. Which will lead in towards the third series.

Keep in mind Chris Chibnall had marketed Broadchurch as Gracepoint in the States and that failed because of the changes. Which were only done because the ending had to be different from the original to avoid spoilers.

Random fact: Eve Myles was in both shows. I thought Gwen could get emotional. She's got nothing on Claire.:o
