This might only be hysterical if you actually live in the UK...

VIa [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003:

If “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” Were Set In Britain.

Example:

44. Xander would have left school at 16 and done a carpentry apprenticeship.

45. He’d have his own white van.

46. And would go on at least one lads holiday to Magaluf.

(Agree with everything, pretty much, except #31, as no way would Willow have grown up on a council estate.)

Xander the White Van Man is very funny. I like the Davis Jason reference too.

Xander and his mates at Wetherspoons first, then a cheeky Nandos and finally a late vindaloo...

Imagination, like radio, has the best graphics.

*guffaw*

Hell, I barely watched Buffy, and that's still hilarious :)

Thank you!

Angel was in Yorkshire more than once - to murder Holtz's family (primarily for being a bunch of southern poofs) and then again to hide out in a mine with Darla, Dru and William, who had upset the local villagers. (Again, mainly by being a Bloody Southerner at a guess.)

Nobody ever recognised Angelus's accent, so they all assumed he was just from a more remote bit of Yorkshire, possibly Todmorden.

My instinct was to say Mytholmroyd, but that would have been too mainstream ;-)

I know, but the name is less intrinsically funny. Unlike, say, Liversedge, Cleckheaton or Heckmondwyke, which ought to be far harder to get to than they are.

Xander would need some lad friends first before he could get anywhere near Magaluf.

And would Cordy even be in the same school?

I think you're probably right about that, but I lol'd at the last one.

Girls did sports in my high school, too; our cheerleaders were least sporty girls and basically couldn't do anything but kick their own bottoms as they "ran". The male athletes all dated female soccer and lacrosse and field hockey players and such.

That part of 80-90s popular culture always baffled me.

This kind of stuff is fun ;)
