Hopefully, people will realise that today doesn't mean this:

But this:

And Andrew Sullivan came out of 'retirement'!!! At least for today. :)

It Is Accomplished.

(I only wish the other news from around the world were less horrible...)

Also, relevant to this post: Straight guy get emotional after gay teen was disowned by family.

ETA: Ten of Doctor Who’s Most Romantic Moments (in honour of the Ponds’ wedding anniversary 26.06.10!). Somehow that just thrilled me to bits - gay marriage became legal [in America] on their wedding day. They'd be so chuffed! <3

I never thought this would happen so soon! First Ireland surprised me, now this. The world really is becoming a better place.

The SCOTUS has issued some remarkably sensible rulings this session, and this is one that we really can dance about. The reactions of the dissenters, from the four on the court to the GOP presidential hopefuls has been ... amusing. (Scalia, that noted logician, abandons any attempt to sound like he's from Earth as he argues, frothfully, that up is down, black is white and suchlike.)

In other words, w00t!!1!

And then the violence around the world reminds me of all the heartache we still have to deal with. Dear lord.

I am genuinely shocked. Immensely pleased, of course, but . . . shocked. Even with the acceleration of different states legalizing gay marriage, this caught me by surprise.

Getting ready to view the vid now, but I'm already awed by the caring and concern of this man over an issue that isn't even his own. I just. Wow. There are still truly good souls out there. And people who care. I thought that lovely people like you were a dying breed. I happily stand corrected!

This news from the USA made me very happy. Also, thanks for the vid links -- both vids made me tear up. Fortunately I did watch them in the right order, ending on a positive note!

Yay, the Supreme Court ruling is such amazing news! <3
Hopefully this news will set a bright international example. Here in Italy, of course, there is still so much to do: we didn't even manage to pass a civil union law, let alone a gay marriage one. The main reason is that we have had such unstable governments lately (if you're curious, a just left a a verbose explanation over at redbrunja's journal, LOL) that every kind of reform, no matter how necessary, is beyond impossible. If politicians can't agree on a badly needed new reform of the electoral system how are they supposed to deal with such a divisive issue as gay marriage? *sighs*
But there's also the Vatican long shadow to consider and a long tradition of bigotry to overcome.

Yes, if Ireland can surely we can too. Here's to hoping! ;)
