Eclipse.

Watched the eclipse this morning! 'Twas rather neat - we all (everyone in the office) had glasses and abandoned our desks to stand outside for about fifteen minutes to see it all properly. We had a pretty good view, and hardly any clouds - although it didn't go very dark, just sort of slightly bleak, as if we were in some blue-tinted movie - and saw it turn to this tiny, tiny sliver of light, with the moon moving across.

And in case anyone is wondering exactly happened, this delightful little video explains all.

Of course the place to be was The Faroe Islands - see this timelapse video:

Solar eclipse: Faroe Islands plunged into darkness.

You can aaaalmost glimpse my parents' house. :)

More photos from all over here.

ETA: There was also a burst water mains nearby, so roads were closed due to flooding. Eclipse AND a flood...

We had cloud - but it was still interesting.

Did your parents manage to get a good look at it?

I wish I got to see it. There was nothing but solid cloud this morning. It got a bit dim, that's about it...

Eclipses are so cool! You're so lucky to get to see one.

We all lined up along the corridor opposite our office, which has a wonderful panoramic view, and watched - as the grey cloud got ever so slightly greyer and then marginally less grey. I think communal disappointment is almost as much fun as sharing in the excitement though! :)

You lucky ones! Nearly the whole of France was under the clouds! ;P
