Eclipse.

Watched the eclipse this morning! 'Twas rather neat - we all (everyone in the office) had glasses and abandoned our desks to stand outside for about fifteen minutes to see it all properly. We had a pretty good view, and hardly any clouds - although it didn't go very dark, just sort of slightly bleak, as if we were in some blue-tinted movie - and saw it turn to this tiny, tiny sliver of light, with the moon moving across.

You can aaaalmost glimpse my parents' house. :)

ETA: There was also a burst water mains nearby, so roads were closed due to flooding. Eclipse AND a flood...

As my co-worker S said: 'If this were 10,000 BC we'd be sacrificing the whole village!'

I'm sure they did. The whole country came to a complete standstill - as in, no one was going to work etc. I'll hear all about it tomorrow. (My mother ALWAYS calls Saturday at 5pm.)

I wish I got to see it. There was nothing but solid cloud this morning. It got a bit dim, that's about it...

Well without the glasses, all we would have been able to observe was a bit of dimness... We were lucky.

We all lined up along the corridor opposite our office, which has a wonderful panoramic view, and watched - as the grey cloud got ever so slightly greyer and then marginally less grey. I think communal disappointment is almost as much fun as sharing in the excitement though! :)

Our College had LOTS of glasses made ('twas a good Marketing opportunity), so we made sure to get some.

Mind you, without the glasses that slight greyness was indeed all to be observed.

They're Danish, but moved there when I was tiny & it's where I grew up. :)
