What I am watching tonight...

Poldark returns from the American War of Independence to his beloved Cornwall to find his world in ruins: his father dead, his house wrecked and his sweetheart engaged.

I'm generally not one for historical dramas. But. I shall be watching this one, for the almost same reasons I watched Casanova (David Tennant) and The Devil's Whore (John Simm). In this case, it's Aidan Turner...

ETA: I had never heard of Poldark until Friday, when work colleagues brought it up. So I have no baggage. It's v. interesting to hear all the stories of people loving the original.

I'm not really into drama, but Poldark has mythic status in our family because at almost any point during the 1980s would would come home to find my mum watching it. So the the thought of a remake was nooooooooooo!!!!!!!! Plus she also loves Aidan Turner.

My poor dad.
