AOQ loved OMWF. :)
ETA: Here's what he said re. Teh Spuffy:
Our hero and William get together this way, huh? And it doesn't seem
like it's just because of the gimmickry; I'll remember that scene
independently of the fact that it's a song. Back in "Crush," I
was convinced that some major things would have to change before they
could hook up. Naturally I was thinking about Spike changing, and he
has done that to a degree. What hadn't even occurred to me was that
a difference in Buffy could be the trigger. It makes total sense to me
that S6 Buffy, cast out of Heaven into a world of anhedonia,
desperately trying to feel something, might do things that would have
been unfathomable to S5 Buffy. Well played, show.
moscow_watcher wrote an article to counter the one by Heather Fowler (the whys can be found here.) Excellent stuff.
I posted chapter 3 of 'Illyria, Alone' over the weekend.
Darcy bought me (us) Season 3 of Buffy (DVD) a few days ago. :) (Yes the re-watch continues and I have *no* time for writing down thoughts.) Watched most of 'Band Candy' yesterday, and it's funny how Angel's half-naked tai-chi (that - I think - is supposed to be hot) gets totally overshadowed by Ripper!Giles who is too cool for words. *wibble* I mean, who in their right mind would choose Angel if they had the choice between those two?
Oh and 'Lost in Space' is possibly the bestest Spuffy album ever. Lines like 'Hate the sinner, but love the sin' could have been written for S6 Spike/Buffy. And I really, really wish someone would make a S6 Buffy vid to 'It's Not':
I keep going round and round on the same old circuit
A wire travels underground to a vacant lot
Where something I can't see interrupts the current
And shrinks the picture down to a tiny dot
And from behind the screen it can look so perfect
But it's not
So here I'm sitting in my car at the same old stoplight
I keep waiting for a change but I don't know what
So red turns into green turning into yellow
But I'm just frozen here on the same old spot
And all I have to do is to press the pedal
But I'm not
No, I'm not
People are tricky, you can't afford to show
Anything risky anything they don't know
The moment you try, you kiss it goodbye
So baby kiss me like a drug like a respirator
And let me fall into the dream of the astronaut
Where I get lost in space that goes on forever
And you make all the rest just an afterthought
And I believe it's you who could make it better
But it's not
No, it's not
No, it's not
Any vidders who feel like trying - I'd be happy to send you the song!

Isn't it just? The first two verses all about Buffy's disconnect, and the last one about trying to drown in Spike... *sigh*
Speaking of S6 I think my essay might actually be getting almost ready for posting. It'll need a thorough read-through, but if I can find the time for that at some point tonight, I might be able to post it tomorrow (going on holiday on Friday and I really want it out of the way!).
I have started it
Squeee!!!!!!!!!! ::bounces:: But I understand completely - it's difficult enough looking up quotes for essays, I can't imagine having to do whole clips!
And it's *wonderful* seeing you about btw. :)

I do like this thing called spare time. :)

Spare time? What's that?

I *love* that album and always think of Spuffy when I hear that line. I wish I had mad vidding skillz, but sadly I don't!

Please ignore the obvious ignorances and tell me, what is "Lost in Space"?

And 'Lost In Space' is an album by Aimee Mann. She played two of the songs from it (in the Bronze) in 'Sleeper' (7.08). Excellent album that you should absolutely buy! ::nods::

It's just the discussions and the essays and the fanfic and the obsession that he has a problem with
You know I was thinking about this with the last few entries at JE's blog (which I notice you're subscribed to). All the little details she mentions weaving into the script says a lot about the things that were deliberately inserted into the Whedon shows.

It does indeed. There is just so much *there* to get into. :) (Esp when we get to the Spuffy...)

And I love the "Shells" quote, even though I had to ask about it.

I think distance has made me way less patient with the usual rapist lover arguments. While I used to be able to jump in, now it mostly just makes me roll my eyes all, "Dude, they're frickin' vampires."

Hee! It's funny though... I remember (re-)watching OOMM with Darcy a good while ago, and thoughtlessly remarked that the dream kiss was such obvious foreshadowing as to be almost silly. And he just sort of shook his head like I was crazy... maybe some people's brains just function differently?
"Dude, they're frickin' vampires."
Word! It'll be 'Smashed' next and I can almost hear them going 'Look he's eeeeevil he attacked that poor woman!!!!!' I have a very pointed and sarcastic comment all ready. :)
Oh and one of them went all 'Spike ruined the show yadda yadda' - and then shot himself in the foot:
The difference is that the show didn't go to ridiculous lengths, even to
the point of having the hero endanger innocents, to keep either Cordelia
or Angel around. Nor has it become an immutable law of the "Buffy"
universe that any subsequent story or spin-off set in such universe must
include Cordelia or Angel.
Ummm....
I'm still chuckling over that one! :)
