Icon meme (again) - this time with meta & spoilers!

Above and below by me
Ah now. This is an icon that is (to me) pretty much pure meta. There are several layers. First of all CAL (Charlotte Abigail Lux) is a River mirror (as is Abigail from the Christmas Carol) - this is meta I have yet to write, but I have notes somewhere. More importantly, however, is the symbol, which is where my keywords come from. The Library symbol mirrors that of Kazran's symbol in A Christmas Carol. To quotelonewytch:
Now the thing is that there is a lot of movement from realm to realm in Doctor Who. Victorian!Clara has gone up to the heavens and brought the Doctor 'back down to Earth', and now she has entered the underworld (the Doctor's time stream), and will hopefully journey back up to the land of the living. <- From meta thoughts currently brewing in my head. So, um, it's a very loaded and rich icon.

Your prompting made me go and create the icon I wanted, rather than the very lovely one I found:
It is basically an icon for highlighting that the central mystery, introduced right at the start, is still a mystery. Why are there cracks in the world? (Why did the TARDIS blow up?) And who did it? Why does he have so many enemies fighting him? Every finale so far has been people fighting the Doctor because they see him as a danger. Why? I suspect the Anniversary - and then Trenzalore - will provide some answers. But here at the beginning there is a crack in the skin of the world... And the Doctor in the TARDIS doesn't know [why].

Page one by me
Clara said that the leaf at the front of her book was Page 1. Now pages in a book are called 'leaves', and books are of course made of trees, so there's a lot of connection there already. However, we've already had River's leaf (which showed the truth of her), so the parallels were too much to ignore. Also ties in with 'We're all stories'. Am not very happy with how the icon turned out though, so might edit again. Esp. considering that Clara's leaf in The Bells of St John is different to the one in Rings of Akhaten & The Name of the Doctor - yet the leaf in the anniversary trailer is the original leaf once more. This is going to be IMPORTANT.

Now this one, I just like. It's River (which makes it wonderful in and of itself), and she's all relaxed and drinking wine and happy... Plus it's just pretty. And that's it.

Forest (The Doctor) by me
This one ties in rather well with my new banner! Originally I had an icon of the Doctor running through the forest in Hide to go with this keyword, but when I wanted something with the TARDIS tree, I decided to use this instead. The TARDIS (again going into Norse mythology & Yggdrasil etc.) is very much a tree, and discovering it has an ACTUAL tree inside it (with EGGS) was too wonderful for words. Generally just see everything about Forests in the whole of Moffat Who (right from the Library) to get all the references tied up in this one.

Originally I had an icon based upon this picture, which still cracks up. So that's always in my head. Basically - Doctor/River sexytiems are canon and this will always make me happy! :D (MY OTP IS MARRIED!!!!)

Angel, river runs deep bymiz_thang88
I've uploaded various Angel icons over the years, but this is the one I find I can't do without. He wants to be a hero, wants to atone, but there is a lot of darkness beneath the surface. So don't judge by what you see - there is so much more underneath. (See the AtS S5 episode 'Underneath' which beautifully illustrates the whole layers thing. "This is only the first layer, don't you want to see how deep I go?") Mmmm. I like me some dark Angel. Like it when he stops pretending that he's other than what he is, and accepts himself.
