And via my flist this essay:
A Closed Letter to Myself on Thievery, Heckling and Rape Jokes by Patton Oswalt. Very, very good.
Also, for those who like to chronicle LJ life, there's a new comm:
monthlydiaryday.
I've read my flist, and feel v. guilty that I've not commented more, but RL is becoming zomg busy. The next two weeks will be intense (in a good way - birthday (Impish Girl), parental visit, confirmation (Miss M)), so I probably won't be around much. Put up a new banner (that I made and it's all pretty and stuff!) and that's going to have to be enough for the foreseeable future...

Thank you for the awesome linkage. Patton gave me a lot to think about.

And my pleasure - that essay was really excellent.

Enjoy the busy swirl of life and see you when things calm down! ;)

And I'll get to your comments at some point, don't worry. Will need a break now and again. ;)

Not worrying—you don't worry. RL comes first, blah blah blah :)

Haha, I love those good girls moments… And I love the way you picked on the exact two hints I was thinking about (bottle moment with Amy actually opening up,
and Amy's annoyed "she's a good girl" comeback to Eleven at the end of the special).

My OTP had been Bellatrix/Voldemort for YEARS so I can somehow empathize… it feels surreal to ship something requited and healthy ;)
no subject
Like I said in that meta, out of my previous 4 OTPs I'd have ONE mutual 'I love you'. On a radio drama 2 years after one half of the OTP died. And he was still dead. MARRIAGE does not happen to my OTPs. (Incidentally my OTPs are - in chronological order - Spike/Buffy, Spike/Angel, Doctor/Master, Jack/Ianto, Doctor/River.)
My OTP had been Bellatrix/Voldemort for YEARS so I can somehow empathize… it feels surreal to ship something requited and healthy ;)
I would never call Doctor/River healthy, although comparatively... yes, I see what you mean. :)

Wow! XD okay. I see what you mean… ;) Well, better late than never!
Incidentally my OTPs are - in chronological order - Spike/Buffy, Spike/Angel, Doctor/Master, Jack/Ianto, Doctor/River.)
Oh, Doctor/Master! :D I shipped Master/Lucy first (see what I meant about unhealthy…) but I ship that too… They just burn the screen… "I like it when you say my name…"
I would never call Doctor/River healthy, although comparatively... yes, I see what you mean. :)
Yes, I had second thoughts typing the word actually, but comparatively… ;) If we consider that looking to keep one's love interest safe and well is the first stage of healthy, at least we've got that! *punches air*
Your icon is deliciously fitting ;)

Oh absolutely. I never knew how important closure was, before that ship... It just broke my heart like no other.
Oh, Doctor/Master! :D I shipped Master/Lucy first (see what I meant about unhealthy…) but I ship that too… They just burn the screen… "I like it when you say my name…"
Oh I like Master/Lucy very much. I've even written fic... But Doctor/Master is one of those that just consumes everything around them, and I never thought anything could overshadow that until River came along.

Indeed.

Same here—it was my first actually! And your WIP is about the Master's and Lucy's son actually, isn't it?
But Doctor/Master is one of those that just consumes everything around them, and I never thought anything could overshadow that until River came along.
This exactly—every word of it. They're so crazily INTENSE.
Love is a psychopath.
♥
It's almost like a shipping manifesto.
Indeed!

Good choice! :D (Mine - my Master/Lucy fic - is Lucy's Diary.)
And your WIP is about the Master's and Lucy's son actually, isn't it?
Ooooh yes. The very, very first story was this tiny little stand alone... Which then ballooned. Well, it spawned a proper fic with 6 (or 8, depending on how many you include) chapters, which stands rather well on its own. If you're curious (and it's only about 7000 words), the beginning is here. The current near-endless behemoth is a sequel about his university years, but that first story is more about the Doctor, the Master and Lucy and how the child redefines their relationship. INTENSE is a good word. >:)

Okay—might go digging for that one too. Mine is Look—just a series of drabbles. I'm drabble girl, pretty much.

Loving the only 7000 words, haha. But thank you—I'll check it out sometime as well :)

Mrs Saxon's Diary. 6300 words.
Mine is Look—just a series of drabbles. I'm drabble girl, pretty much.
Drabbles are good. (Well done, they're amazing.) Will have a look when I have a moment... ETA: This is the best drabble ever, and quite possibly the best Doctor Who fic ever: "Yeah, I know what an allegory is," said Ace.

That's SHORT for me, for a fic. I've written CHAPTERS that long. /o\

Neat! Thank you. Reading that soon.
Drabbles are good. (Well done, they're amazing.) Will have a look when I have a moment...
Thanks, and no problem. I normally wouldn't have thrown the link in, but since you mentioned you wanted to have another look at my work, I thought "what the hell". I’m kind of self-conscious with throwing my stuff at people, makes me feel like an attention-seeker ;) I’m silly like that. But especially since I know your RL is taking a lot of time atm—don’t feel you have to. =)

But you’re godly stuff so shut up. XP No, but seriously—that’s amazing. I quite admire people who manage length like that ;) Then again, we all have our stronger sides—the most important thing is to always strive to improve/explore areas of writing we’re less comfortable with…

Can you wait until I've caught up with all your other feedback? ;)
Thanks, and no problem. I normally wouldn't have thrown the link in, but since you mentioned you wanted to have another look at my work, I thought "what the hell".
No, thank you, seriously. It's much easier to follow a link than to hunt stuff down. :)
I’m kind of self-conscious with throwing my stuff at people, makes me feel like an attention-seeker ;) I’m silly like that.
Ooooh I know that feeling. I have to deliberately force myself to throw stuff at people.
But especially since I know your RL is taking a lot of time atm—don’t feel you have to. =)
Oh I very much want to, but it might just take me a while.
It’s amazing. Thanks for the link!
I think that story is now part of my DNA...
But you’re godly stuff so shut up. XP
Stop saying stuff like that, my head will swell up like a balloon!
No, but seriously—that’s amazing. I quite admire people who manage length like that ;)
The thing is, it just writes itself. And before I know it everything is thousands of words long...
Then again, we all have our stronger sides—the most important thing is to always strive to improve/explore areas of writing we’re less comfortable with…
Tell me about it. /o\ I CAN do short, but most of my fic is thinly disguised meta.

Haha, no problem. It’s not like I don’t have anything to catch up with myself ;) Juggling things always and forever, my god. (Who said "need to choose"?)
No, thank you, seriously. It's much easier to follow a link than to hunt stuff down. :)
Quiiiite right…
Ooooh I know that feeling. I have to deliberately force myself to throw stuff at people.
:D *high fives*
Well, I did get better at it, I pimp on coms now…
Oh I very much want to, but it might just take me a while.
No problem and yayyy :D
Stop saying stuff like that, my head will swell up like a balloon!
*tries to shut up and fails* Sorry, I think you’re stuck with my praise.
I CAN do short, but most of my fic is thinly disguised meta.
Well at least you’ll never lack insight, and it’s fascinating ;)
