A couple of things...

First, we watched the finale of 'House' last night...

Must re-watch, because that was a fabulous episode! About halfway through, Darcy remarked: "Maybe this is his purgatory?" which I think is an excellent description. :) No sure when I twigged that the *whole thing* was an illusion, but it was somewhere around the time he began walking again. 'Popping' Cameron's button made me sure. :) (treacle_a you must have been in heaven! *g*)






In other news, Arbitrar of Quality is now up to Crush (or "For our next experiment, we'll play latter-day Mozart at Spike and see if it makes him jump out a window")

Go read, he has a lot of good thoughts. In his review of 'Blood Ties' he commented on the growing friendship vibe between Buffy and Spike and said he liked it. As for this ep, here's his musings on the 'ship:

It turns out that Buffy was right all along: the chip doesn't represent true change. She, and we, end up more totally convinced than before that Spike is incapable of real love. And the episode makes a strong case for the fact that, "shippers" be damned, a Buffy/Spike relationship cannot happen under the present circumstances. Period. Let's hope the show sticks to it.

Notice the way I phrased the statement about the B/S pairing, "under the present circumstances." Just an idea, but... If Spike is really that into Buffy to the point where he's denying his vampire identity (we've seen hints of that), you know what he could try, as a final act of total desperation? Have Willow make him a soul. There are lots of issues there, not the least of which being the loophole in the one curse our heroes know, but I think it's worth pondering.

Things are going to get *so* interesting! :)

I've just never gotten people who come out of Crush feeling this way though. I was a casual viewer when I watched it, and it was so obvious to me that Spike and Buffy were going to hook up. It's just...TV 101, you know? You don't throw something out there if it's not going to happen eventually. The temporary setback is the hallmark of television romance. So these analytical fans who watched and were all, "Oooh, closure, glad that's over." I mean, have you ever watched TV before? Ever? One of my friends described it like this, "if you don't want people to ask for Steak, don't put it on the grill, and if they put it on the grill that's what they're serving." Spuffy was obviously going to happen from the minute Spike had his dream in OOMM.

That's very good! :)

I'm not sure he's dismissing S/B out of hand - only saying that it can't happen as things stand. Which is very true. But he also acknowledges that the relationship is taken seriously now and not just used for fun, so he expects something to change drastically if there's going to be Spike/Buffy in the future.

It'll be interesting to see what he says after 'Intervention'. :)
