*grumble*

Are there dailies for 'As You Were'? I've been reading through the (shooting) script, which has a few points that I really, really wish had been incorporated.

One is from the Bronze scene with Willow and Dawn:

Willow notices something.

WILLOW (cont'd)
Don't move. Don't look. Just
letting you know -- cute guy,
checking you out.

DAWN
Headed this way?

A CUTE GUY, maybe sixteen, walks up to Dawn.

CUTE GUY
Hi. You're Dawn, right? Taylor.
We have bio together ...

DAWN
You sit in the back and don't talk
much but draw cartoons and
sometimes wear these really cool
cowboy boots.
(beat)
Not that I noticed.

CUTE GUY
Do you ... want to dance?

DAWN
(casual)
Sure. I could do that.

The Cute Guy smiles and leads Dawn to the dance floor. Dawn plays it cool, but turns when the guy's not looking to give Willow a big "Oh My God!" face. Willow sneaks her a thumbs up. Dawn starts to dance with the guy, music building ...

Any fanfic writers: There's Dawn's boyfriend if you want one :)

One omission from the script that I was happy about was that Sam was supposed to have been a doctor. Maybe they realised that that would have been overkill? Anyway, there's a great description in the script of the 'What are you doing with my husband' scene:

Sam puts her hands on her hips and raises one eyebrow, awaiting her answer.

Buffy looks shocked.

Riley looks married.

Heh.

The other scene (and the one I was hoping there might be a daily for) is the very end:

BUFFY
-- and it's killing me. I have to
be strong about this.

he looks on the verge of another sly comeback, but she puts her hand to his face.

BUFFY (cont'd)
I'm sorry, William.

Buffy turns -- and walks out. We can see her strength in her face. It's painful -- and fragile -- but strength all the same.

Spike stands in the crypt, alone.

And we hold on his face as he takes in the truth of this. It's over. It's final. And Spike, without moving, gets hit fully and hard by the Thunderbolt...

BLACK OUT

Because Damn JM would have played that so heart breakingly perfect! And the hand to his face.... ::wails::

You know I love the later seasons, but I'm shaking my head with you when it comes to the editing. If I ever had the ear of a producer, I'd ask just what the deal was.

The most curious thing about it for me, is that the eps are continually *written* like that, then those scenes were taken out or subtly changed. If it were only one script, you'd figure they just changed their minds and decided to go a different direction... But that doesn't seem to be the case. S7, for instance, the S/B scenes are toned down from the shooting script in every episode from Sleeper all the way up to and including Chosen. And it's not even limited to the B/S, the scene near the end of Beneath You where Xander warns Anya of what Buffy might have to do was pretty damned important, IMO, why cut it out?

I just don't know.

Yeah, I misremembered the placement. It's right before the cut to alley scene where Spike gores Ronnie with the pipe.
