elisi: Living in interesting times is not worth it (gratification (buttersideup))

Well, I wanted to write today, but LJ kept packing up on me, so I wrote this off-line, and then did a cut’n’paste job now. Enjoy:

Firstly I’m very cheerful (if sleepy, but we’ll get back to that) this morning, since the sun is shining beautifully and the house is (mostly) tidy! (If I’d written yesterday, you’d have gotten a long rant about horrible, nasty rain during the school run, so count yourselves lucky!) Also there is blissful peace since the children are in school and nursery - yup, life is good!

Now, I’ve been thinking about this for a while - is there a ‘Buffy-greeting’? “The stake be with you”? I’ve been wondering, since most other shows seem to have some sort of catch phrase that seems to sum it (or a character) up: ‘Beam me up Scottie’, ‘D’oh’, ‘Use The Force Luke’ - to mention but a very few. Is there a quote or phrase that sums up Buffy or Angel (show or character)? F.ex.: ‘I brood therefore I am!’(sadly, that one is not my invention). Spike of course is fairly easy - I think most people agree that “I may be love’s bitch, but at least I’m man enough to admit it!” is him in a nutshell. (Now I want to watch ‘Lover’s Walk’. That always happens).

Anyway, answers on the back of a postcard please. Hee.

Now, this is slightly controversial, so don't hate me until you've read it all:

In defence of Kennedy:
I didn’t think I’d ever write those words either, but bear with me. Reading [livejournal.com profile] molly_may’s lovely reviews, and some of the discussions of how unsympathetic Willow becomes, I started musing on Willow’s relationships. And I think that in her relationships with both Oz and Tara, she was ‘the one wearing the trousers’. Not that Oz was a pushover at all, but being a werewolf I think he felt unable to voice his fears over her increasing power very well. And Tara, being the lovely, lovely person she was, said too little, too late.

But Kennedy has no interest in magic. I think when she realises that it can be a powerful tool, she’s proud of Willow, but I feel that if Willow should ever return to her ‘I’ll fix it with a bit of magic’ mindset, Kennedy would call her on it straight away! And I think Willow really needs that!

I hope that made sense, it’s been mulling around in my head for a while now. (Can something mull around?)

Now since everyone seems to do TV-review stuff, I thought I’d join in. The reason I feel not completely awake, is because I stayed up rather late last night watching ‘Jack Dee Live at the Apollo’ featuring Omid Djalili!!! Jack Dee (stand-up comedian who’s made a speciality out of being grumpy) did a bit a the start (“I think that what the Olympic Village needs is an Olympic Village Idiot”) and then there was more than half an hour of Omid! Much Joy! The man is so, so, so, so funny (apparently he’s off to LA now, so look out for him!). To explain, he is the only Iranian stand-up (at least the only one over here) and I won’t even being to describe his act, because I just couldn’t do it justice... (well he at one point did an impression of Godzilla having his foot stood on, and he does every accent under the sun!)

Just remembered that Omid Djalili is the fat guy who gets eaten by beetles in ‘The Mummy’.

Apart from that, if anyone is reading this in the UK, I’ll just say: Watch ‘Green Wing’ (Fridays, C4) - I know it’s nearly finished, but you shouldn’t miss out on it, it’s brilliant and hilarious and there’s a great attention to detail and it’s crammed full of sit-com stars - and I better finish this sentence before it completely runs away with me!

Also, ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ is on again - and I missed the first one!! ::sobs:: I even missed the repeat on sunday night! I guess it serves me right for being to lazy to looking through the TV-listings.

That’s all for now, I have to go write a shopping list and see if the washing’s done. I hope you found that entertaining!
