And we have now seen Clara 'pilot' the TARDIS through sheer determination... I am very interested in the fact that the TARDIS deems her worthy to argue with, snub, or listen to at all. Considering that she calls the companions, collectively, "strays."
The correct pilot would seem to be someone between a simple human (burns up) and a Time Lord (makes the TARDIS blow up)... Could it be Clara? Oooo, yes. That works lovely. Also fits very well with the "perfect fusion of ice and humanity" that the GI was looking for in the Christmas special.
In Hide, the Clara mirror was a lost space explorer (= astronaut = spaceship pilot). A granddaughter. Scared and lost. Mmmm, also good. Though, even if she's not intended as a TARDIS pilot, her desire to travel certainly fits nicely as a mirror for a time travel pioneer. It's better if she's a TARDIS pilot, though.
Also... "If he is mad, then this is his madness." And the monks look at the picture of Clara. A mad man with a box... Hehehehehe. I swear, with Moff, I'm most likely to believe an argument if it will result in a clever pun somewhere. Clara who? Clara Who!
