I really want to use a sports metaphor here - he made a slam dunk, he hit it out of the park, TOUCHDOWN! I'm not sure why I'm associating the pope with sports right now, but I'm happy.
I had never heard of Cardinal Bergoglio, but what little I've seen or heard from him since his election strengthens my belief that he is the right man at the right time. And since he asked us to pray for him on that first evening, I've been praying for him every day ;-)
There are a few issues that might be problematic, but overall he seems like a genuinely humble and straightforward guy. I approve muchly, and yes, pray for him.
Yes, he continues to impress me as well. A commentator on one show said something about him having difficulty reforming the curia because they won't fear an older man. However fear isn't necessary to get things done, and a man who won't put up with their BS can be just as effective. I'm hopeful he can reform and redirect the Church back towards an institution of Faith rather than politics.
I find the fact he keeps sneaking out to do things both alarming (cause I know there are sick people who'd love to hurt him) and amusing as heck at the same time. I just picture the staff wandering around trying to figure out where the heck the Pontiff is.

Which is GOOD.

hi! maybe you'll be interested in reading this: http://www.advocate.com/society/youth/2013/03/28/catholic-high-school-allows-male-couple-attend-dance (Catholic High School Allows Male Couple to Attend Dance)
due to my views, I do not support it completely. but I thought you may like the school's decision.
Thank you so much for that link. It is very encouraging to see something like this. The whole issue is very complex (as I am well aware of the Church's teachings), but this seems a very good step in the right direction. :)
