The White House uses the Force...
The Obama Administration set up a “We the People” petition system — where a petition by an ordinary citizen requires a White House response if it gets 25,000 signatures within 30 days — and they've had a lot crazy requests. This one is the best - as is the response.
Created on Nov. 14, 2012, the petition demands that the Obama Administration “secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.” It earned 34,435 signatures, more than enough to force a White House response, which was just posted to the White House Petitions website, penned by Paul Shawcross, Chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget. You can read it here, and yes, that's the actual title. It is quite simply the most awesome thing ever:
This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For.
Go. Read. Flail.

Wonder if there's a petition to free Leonard Peltier? That, I'll sign.

And RL is OK, it's just VERY BUSY. Which isn't surprising what with working full time + three kids.

And now I'll stop butting in and go leave my actual comment.

Also, I agree with the author. We live in the future and it is awesome.
Now I wonder if we could get them to build a TARDIS instead.

It all makes me very happy. And he's there for four more years.

Also, they replied in the language of the people who made the petition, showing that they understood exactly how these people see the world. They are all geeks! <3

Totally. It's a brilliant piece of writing.
Now I wonder if we could get them to build a TARDIS instead.
Wouldn't be the same without a Doctor, sadly...

(Personal head-canon: he doesn't want to conquer the moon because he actually believes in Moonites, but because he wants to hollow it out and make a Death Star. Because really, what else could a psychotic potato ever want out of life?)

Well, I was on Facebook. But I ragequit over their privacy fails.
