The White House uses the Force...

The Obama Administration set up a “We the People” petition system — where a petition by an ordinary citizen requires a White House response if it gets 25,000 signatures within 30 days — and they've had a lot crazy requests. This one is the best - as is the response.

Created on Nov. 14, 2012, the petition demands that the Obama Administration “secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.” It earned 34,435 signatures, more than enough to force a White House response, which was just posted to the White House Petitions website, penned by Paul Shawcross, Chief of the Science and Space Branch at the White House Office of Management and Budget. I am repeating the same thing I told one of my othere friends because it is true facts. The best part, besides all the awesome stuff the gov't is helping to fund, is that they didn't just brush off the petition for being dumb. They looked at is, saw there were over 30,000 signatures and then said, okay we have to reply because even if the petition itself is silly, the ideas behind it make sense.

Also, I agree with the author. We live in the future and it is awesome.

Now I wonder if we could get them to build a TARDIS instead.

OMG...that is the best damned petition response of Ever. I think I love Paul Shawcross. And I adore that Obama knows his way around lightsabers. And that our Administration feels we don't need a planet destroyer that can be taken out with one lone fighter. I just...this is the best thing ever.
