Because my brain is weirder than yours!

This all began yesterday when I was unfortunate enough to see a fight between an Atheist and a Christian. What struck me most was that neither was a good representative for their viewpoint - mostly they just came across as quarrelsome and angry. Like Spuffies and Bangels shooting at each other on fandom_wank.

Now from that stray little thought came the notion of 'What if religions were fandoms/ships?' And off my brain went...

So - going with what I know best, I'll make the Buffyverse Christianity. To sub-divide, Spuffies are Catholics and Bangels are Protestants (and don't try to argue otherwise, OK?). The Orthodox/Eastern Churches can be Fanged Four. Umm, running out of ideas now - what ship would be suitable for Baptists? Pentecostals? The Salvation Army?

Muslims could be Harry Potter fans.

Atheists like documentaries (and maybe Harry Dresden as read by JM). ;)

And since Jehovah's Witnesses were what started this thing, they can be 'The Mountain'! Light hearted, remember?

So anyone have any ideas? Could Mormons be Smallville? And what about Hinduism and Buddhism?

(Do you think this qualifies as 'Weirdest post ever?' ::presses 'update' with trepidation::)

I'm tempted to put in Buffy/Xander as Baptists...good old-fashioned fire and brimstone, little lady should be grateful her man can provide for her and repent her previously sexually promiscuous ways.

Oh, that one's gonna get me in trouble isn't it?

Willow/Tara can be the Pentecostals. *g*

How 'bout us Pagans? Wait, wait, I think that must be "Angel, the Series".

Late to the party, but I made it in the end. Can I be Shipping Pope? ;)

Don't forget Sikhs. I vote for us being a bit like the Knights who say Key but not as stupid.

The question was Why? Then I kind of started to see the logic. admittedly, a very scewered logic. ;)

What about Judaism? can it be X-files?

[identity profile] zanthinegirl.livejournal.com 2005-11-29 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm... As a lasped catholic who goes to a protostant church that would make me a former spuffy bangel? Huh.

I think Buddists should be Babylon 5 fans; just seems to fit. And scientologist could be slashers...

::ducks::

I think spander is completely inexplicable. I can see Spangel (though it's not my cup of tea) but spander?

Maybe the scientologist should be Buffy/Giles (shudders!)

Dude, Spuffy is totally Jewish. Chosen! ;)

Can Riley/Spike be scientology. cause it's half sci-fi and the other half plain crazy?

Can "Veronica Mars" be Kabbalah? Because it's the new in thing, you know.
