Um... the show does nothing BUT send it up. OK, so it also panders to his melodrama a LOT, but from The Zeppo onwards the writers never miss an opportunity to poke fun at B/A or Angel himself. Don't have time to go into a lot of details, but off the top of my head:

'Billowy Coat King of Pain'

'What was the highlight out *our* relationship? When you broke up with me or when I killed you?'

'He wears lifts you know'

'I signalled her with my eyes'

And the whole scene in... Oh what's it called, where Cordy and Wesley act out Buffy & Angel's story...

TONS of stuff. Including, like, ALL of S5 of AtS when Spike's around, snarking.
