I have to admit.. when Kermit and Miss Piggy started singing it... I teared up. Also, check it out.. Man or Muppet is up for Best Original Song from a movie :) It's not a big category though.. there's just two songs, the other is from Rio.
I'm so glad your girls love The Muppets. They're one of my favorites from when I was a kid and I love the fact they transcending age groups and keeping children happy no matter when it is!
I have to admit.. when Kermit and Miss Piggy started singing it... I teared up. Oh me too, totally. And the Muppets weren't even a part of my childhood - well except for my giant Miss Piggy poster which had to be in the darkest corner of my room because my mother thought it was horrible. I, however, adored it! ♥

I'm so glad your girls love The Muppets. They're one of my favorites from when I was a kid and I love the fact they transcending age groups and keeping children happy no matter when it is! Well they've seen snippets (Manah Manah & the yip yip aliens and - of course - A Muppet Christmas Carol which they love to pieces), but this is the first time they've had the 'proper' experience as it were and they want it back on screen NOW!
Yeah! Things like that give me hope for the next generation!
I loved the Muppet show as a kid, and I'm always surprised at how well it still holds up. And the movies are so much fun; the Muppet Christmas Carol is a family holiday tradition.
Also... I read an article when it was first released over here across the Pond... that called the movie ""The Muppets" is, to put it simply, the greatest work of fanfiction I've ever seen". And it is!
That song always chokes me up--no shame. It is utterly gorgeous and perfect and... yeah. ♥
I missed that movie in the theaters here, but definitely mean to watch it sooner rather than later. Try to see it on a BIG screen - parts of it really need it. :)
The Great Muppet Caper is my favorite *g* I don't think I've seen that one, but given the girls' current obsessiveness, I'm sure I'll watch it in the not too distant future...
Saw this last week dubbed into German (which I don't speak BTW!) in Bonn, as a language exercise for my daughter who is hopefully soon to be reading German at uni! Still loved it, although I probably missed some of the great lines. The hideous fridge exploding was a great moment for me. Also Animal in anger management. I could go on..and on..and on.
For me, the tear-up moment was when Kermit stepped outside and that crowd were out there cheering them on. I am absolutely certain the Muppets can enthral a new generation. They're satirical but, deep down, it's a kind satire with affection and heart.
You watched it in GERMAN? Blimey. Although I guess it shows how well it tells the story that it was still very comprehensible. (I don't like stuff that's dubbed, just on principal. Much prefer subtitles. And I speak from experience!)
For me, the tear-up moment was when Kermit stepped outside and that crowd were out there cheering them on. Ooh yes. Just... beautiful. And judging by my girls, they'll be just as loved as they were. <3
They're satirical but, deep down, it's a kind satire with affection and heart. Exactly. It's TERRIBLY American, but in the best possible way. :)
I haven't seen the movie yet but... Check out this vid : The Doctor's Life a Happy Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ81XsZK5Po) by huffley6. Just do it, it's genius. The best kind of crack there is.

I think there has to be something *wrong* with someone if they don't like the Muppets...
