Neil Gaiman: A speech I once gave: On Lewis, Tolkien and Chesterton

(I have lots of thoughts on fantasy and culture and writing and responding to different sources - esp as regards Mark - but am too tired to do anything with it.)

Lovely interview with the Moff. (Spoilers for Sherlock.)

[last horizons I can see] by [livejournal.com profile] redbrickrose. Spike/Angel. Post-"Damage" through "You're Welcome". (Hello there rabbit hole... OH BOYS I LOVE YOU STILL!)

ETA: Does anyone remember/have a link to an awesome Darla essay that I can remember reading, but didn't bookmark? It will have been written a good few years ago, and was laid out chronologically (as in, following Darla's timeline), as far as I recall.

ETA2: Still in my rabbit hole apparently. Went and read [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds' I'm Not Supposed to Be Like This which is Spike and Darla meeting inbetween seasons (S2 & 3 of AtS and S5 and 6 for BtVS), and it is still as amazing as ever. *deep sigh* Oh show(s).

I'm sure there was more, but I'm half-asleep. And I'm trying to get my head around trying to sort out the final chapter of My Immortal 2 (which HATES me, even though I have a proper draft and everything), so I watched Behind Blue Eyes because it is my 'Immortal' vid and oh, that was another rabbit hole... (I could CRY at how unsatisfactory Miracle Day was in the light of what came before, but I won't. Esp since I can't write this chapter for the life of me, so I don't have the right to throw stones.)

Do you remember any specifics about the Awesome Darla Essay? I suspect fandom has produced more than one. *g* My first place to check would be [livejournal.com profile] selenak's archives.

Your so kind! Searching Darla essays for me! Thank you so much! Why don't you write a spangel little thing, just to escape from the rabbit hole? Helps a lot thinking about the boys! :D

Still thank you :)

I read one essay about Darla. I have to disagree about some things but I found it profoundly fascinating. Still, I don't love her. Even knowing how great she can be, love is something you should feel naturally. I don't know. Maybe one day, I'll come to really empathize with her feelings. Now I'm going to sleep. >O<

OT: Reading Darla's essays, I listen to this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nbeG3YOjJg&feature=relmfu

It's dedicated to a man (a father, a lover, even God, if you prefer) and basically says this, let me traslate:
"You that are different, at least you in all the universe, you're a sun that shines for me, only for me. Tell me that you will be forever sincere and that you'll love me more, more, more".
It can be easily Darla or Buffy or Faith point of view about Angel or Spike. :)
Even our point of view ^^
Goodnight!

Thanks for the link to the Neil Gaiman essay. He has a way of magically crystallizing your thoughts, doesn't he?

And, as always, looking forward to more My Immortal. Don't know if that inspires you, but on the off chance...

I haven't read the Gamin essay before but thanks for sharing it. I love his work - he's on my list of writers who make me inspired and small at the same time.
