Sherlock 2.3

Stories. Stories stories stories stories. I will never tire of stories about stories. (<- It was this or keyboard smash.)

ETA: Miss M's comment: "Wow. That was... something. [pause] The Great Game isn't my favourite any more. Which is a shame, but..."

(The Great Game is still Impish Girl's favourite, because it's funny.)

ETA2: Love that Irene's story was TOTALLY foreshadowing for Sherlock's. Mirrorssssssssss. Mirrors are GOOD.

(At this point I could bring in Doctor Who and how Moriarty is obviously the Master (and oh, how DELICIOUS was the scene in the flat where they had tea?) and Irene is obviously River (or Romana? Anyway, woman who is his equal, but not batshit crazy), but it seems rather obvious, so I won't. *g*) (Although, of course, the Master was brought in back in the day specifically to be the Doctor's Moriarty. EVERYTHING is neat and mirror-y.)

Also, 'You can't kill an idea' and 'Lying with the Truth' and the whole thing about controlling stories and Fairy Tales and... STORIES, dammit.

Plus, look! The writer that everyone [in fandom] decided was rubbish wrote a brilliant episode! *points to previous post*

And Molly. ♥ ('Please. Help me.' Oh Moffat.)

ETA3: Link to Watson's blog. VERY SPOILERY.

I don't seem to be able to form actual words, just small noises. But yes! Stories stories stories stories. Meep.

Hee! That's what so clever about the Coat - there am I going, "it's a distraction. Come on, stop thinking about the Coat and focus!" and all the while the story is the distraction and the Coat is the clue. :)

*deep breath*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Sorry. That was all I was capable of saying for at least a full minute after finishing the episode.)

I spent the whole episode (because I had enough vague memories of previous tv versions to know what the end was going to be, just from the title) thinking "this reminds me of something" but it wasn't right until the end with Sherlock watching John at his graveside that I realised it was the Doctor, because faking his own death is something I expect far more from Sherlock than the Doctor and I'd kind of forgotten the Doctor had done it!

Plus, oh god yes, Sherlock/Moriarty is totally Doctor/Master, but again that's something I grew up knowing. *g*

YES. I was sooo thinking of meta about stories - and lies and truth - and also all the crossover with Who while rewatching.

It was fascinating. And YES MIRRORS. (Also, more foreshadowy than the both ominous and slightly LOL hanging dummy at the beginning.)

BUT ULTIMATELY I AM JUST BROKEN BY JOHN WATSON'S SADFACE.
