I feel like the "I do X now, X is cool," is becoming a cheap gimmick--both among fans trying to capture Eleven's voice and among the DW writers themselves, but here it works perfectly. It's one of best "inside Eleven's head" things I've ever seen--it's not just that you can believe he'd say/think that, it's when you read it, it immediately feels right.

*nods a lot* I think one reason it works so well is that the 'cool' statement isn't the end of it. He sort of starts flailing and worrying and it undercuts it beautifully. :)
