Immediate reaction post. (DW 6.3)

Well that was FUN! Oh I'm sure there's meta somewhere below, what with all the water and the mirrors, but mostly I just enjoyed it enormously! Here are some highlights:

- The Doctor was WRONG! A LOT! This bodes well. (Actually, I like how he constantly changes his mind about what's going on, whenever he gets new information/notices something different.) Also the whole 'Who's the Captain' thing was very silly, but I liked it a lot. :)

- The TARDIS was in a strop and threw a tantrum, and then when the Doctor found her again he RAN to her and HUGGED her! \o/

- Amy as a Pirate Queen, swashbuckling for all she was worth. Hurrah for kickass female rolemodels!

- The siren was a doctor [programme]! Clever. :)

- OMG they (almost) killed Rory! You bastards! (Darcy was going: 'They're IN THE TARDIS! SURELY there's a defibrillator somewhere!' But of course, that would have decreased the dramatic tension. *g*)

- SPACE PIRATES! (I want crossovers with Firefly NOW!)

- Impish Girl reckons that the strange dreamlike Lady With Eyepatch is a sort of Guardian for Amy. I find this notion intriguing.

- and Miss M once more proved that she is my (our) daughter THROUGH AND THROUGH, since once the Confidential started, and we saw The Jolly Roger displayed, she went 'Avery had his own flag, and it was different. Actually most pirates had their own flags. Just hang on, I'll get a book and show you!' (She was right, of course.)

...I'm sure there was more but I've got to run. Oh! The trailer for next week! Gimme gimme gimme! *grabby hands*

A singing shark, eh?

The TARDIS was in a strop and threw a tantrum, and then when the Doctor found her again he RAN to her and HUGGED her! \o/

Alternately, the siren kidnapped the TARDIS and put her in the sickbay, since she's been malfunctioning for 48 years now... But yeah; "Toby!" "Rory!" "The TARDIS!" ♥

Amy as a Pirate Queen, swashbuckling for all she was worth.

I swear, if we'd just gotten about 2 more minutes of that, I'd be making a fanvid set to Brecht's "Pirate Jenny" right now.

Also, when the Doctor started talking about seeing another world in mirrors, was I the only one flashing back to the end of "Family of Blood"? I was? OK then, nevermind.

Well obviously. Poor TARDIS. ♥

There HAS to be an episode set entirely within the TARDIS this season. They've been teasing us enough now.

You can't use stuff from the Confidential?

Maybe. I think I'll wait a while yet. The idea just struck me, it depends a bit on where the story goes from now on, but I think one could make something of it... Hmmm.

MIRRORS!

And speaking of realities nested within each other and hiding in plain sight, Gaiman is writing the next episode... \o/

I'm convinced that the eyepatch lady is some sort of nanny or midwife or nurse who exists in the alternate timeline/universe in which Amy is pregnant. (Though, that's mostly just based on general instinct, which is also telling me she's not to be trusted...)

I wonder if Moffat wrote more little glimpses of her in future episodes? I hope she appears in 4, 5 and 6 as well as her reported full appearance in 7. :)

Argh, Sorry! I keep forgetting that things like that count as spoilers and that some people have the self-control to avoid them. I really must get better at not inadvertently telling people things... Again - Sorry!

Yeah, we were both going "The TARDIS has four bathrooms and no sickbay?" But still, fun.

(You know, I would really like to see more of the TARDIS than the control room - you could do a whole freaking episode inside the TARDIS!)

The Doctor was WRONG! A LOT! This bodes well. (Actually, I like how he constantly changes his mind about what's going on, whenever he gets new information/notices something different.)

It's like THINKING and PROBLEM SOLVING in the manner that thinking and problem solving ACTUALLY WORK! Now who let that in there? We can't be having any of that!

And we can probably accept the extensive mocking of RTD as read . . .

But . . . the Doctor is supposed to be a genius!

Ok, I feel 50% better about this episode now.

I'm really trying to see the deeper significance here - and as somebody who hasn't seen the rest of DW, it's so hard!

- There's a ship stuck in the sea and a siren who can smell blood attacking them
- except it's really a doctor pulling them through to her ship to heal them
- except she's really just a construct; she's not real
- except the ship really is a ship but it's not in the ocean it's in space
- and she can only "rescue" them through a mirror, and she's fiercely protective of her charges
- but the point is they're stuck here until the winds pick up
- and Amy is still seeing that strange lady through a sliding window like you see in an insane asylum and she's still pregnant/not pregnant/pregnant - is she still trapped and actually in an alternate dimension/universe and dreaming of this? Is she dreaming of rescuing Rory because she herself still needs to be rescued? Is she wishing the doctor would just figure it out? GAH!
- and the Tardis isn't sticking around for this nonsense and gives everyone the brushoff (I had forgotten the Tardis was somewhat sentient?)
- and, and HELP I can't make heads nor tails of it. And maybe I'm not supposed to? Maybe I'm just supposed to say Yay Pirates and leave it at that?

Thank you!
