Huh.

The eighth anniversary of "Mission Accomplished." To the day. The 66th anniversary of the anouncement of the death of Adolph Hitler. To the day.

Stunned, really. Dunno if I'm *happy*, but I guess it's a good thing overall. Not really awake, to be honest.

All that money spent. All those lives. And they find him sitting around in a fucking mansion.

Hasn't changed my opinion of Obama at all. [read: negative]

I doubt it'll mean much in the scheme of things, like cutting a head off a hydra. But it's good, if grim, news anyway.

And for added geekery, Obama's tweet about it was post number 1337.

I don't think that any death should make anyone happy. It's going to be politically significant though, and it's probably a good thing for Obama himself.

And I can't help thinking that another Big Bad will be "needed" soon.

Now I'm picturing Bin Laden in an afterlife ala Huis Clos by Sartre, meeting up with that fly Obama killed during an interview, and sharing experiences!

And here's FOX News' reaction:

Yep. And they're not too sorry about it either.

Mixed emotions to be sure. I was crying last night: with relief, sadness for the state of the world, and yes, a little bit of joy that he's gone. And then I prayed about the guilt I felt at feeling joy at the death of a human being.

That macro made me grin though. Those "birthers" are the kind of folks who give Americans a bad odor to our neighbors in the world. People are nuts with the straws they'll grasp at, and the racists they'll reveal themselves as.

Our president is a BAMF. Take notice, crazies.

That is a great macro!

And I'm pretty sure it just got Obama a second term. Take that, Donald Trump!

I did see it, but not until I'd commented. Hee!

Though in all fairness a lot could happen in the next 18 months...

Though at the moment I really want Donald Trump to try for the republican nomination. I've loathed him for years; I want to see him humiliated!

i'm not one to revel in the deaths of others, but i do love that .gif.

someone posted a mark twain quote this morning that resonated with me. something about never wanted to see any man killed, but greeting some obituaries with satisfaction ...

YES. keep him around. give him four terms. it's been done. i could die happy.

i read somewhere that a bunch of service men (persons) were chanting "yes we did! yes we did! yes we did!" and i though about the idea of some of them calling home to tell their red state parents how great our administration is now.

and it made me happy.
