Sometimes...

From Wiki's list of Doctor Who planets:

Argos is the planet where the Doctor got his sonic screwdriver.

*raises eyebrow*

ETA: American flisters can substitute 'Planet Walmart' so as to get the joke...

I like that! I suppose he has to get them somewhere. I'd love to see the catalogue, though.

It took me a moment (must be the cold temperatures causing brain freeze)...but I got what they did there. And now come to think of it it does sound like a planet, to my mind at least:)

Heh heh, "the tardis of toasters" and the "pale mythical wardens"- and I always vaguely wondered how large the back of an argos shop must be! Loved bill bailey in black books and in Hot fuzz (among my top ten films on any given day!).And I mean this in the best possible way, I have always envisioned bill bailey as being the perfect person for a role as a dwarf in Lord of the rings! I mean they are doing 'The hobbit' soon aren't they? Anyway, I digress, loved the clip, cheered me up no end! Thanks;)

Reading those quotes back, anybody would think we were quoting Lotr rather than a rant about...Argos, the shop.
Bill bailey= A+ at geeky observational comedy lol

Oh, stephen fry, don't get me started on him and how I adore him. let me count the ways...Fry and alan davies are so brilliant and make a great double act.

Agreed- I think everyone agrees on that already though! But the awesomeness of the man cannot be overstated.

It just had to be, really, didn't it?

[identity profile] gamiila.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, of course it is! ::snorfle::

Haha, I don't get it.

Explain the joke to me?

[identity profile] chloris67.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for explaining! I was just reading my flist and couldn't figure out the significance of Argos. Now I understand the amusement. :D

Suddenly this makes more sense!
