Day 13.

Didn't get much writing done today. Just not in the right mood at all. Did get a bit done in chapter 1 though, and have mulled over a scene that I thought up, but then discarded, and I think it'll have to stay discarded. Might at some point do it as a 'deleted scene' though. (I also had one where Riley met Jack - and one with Angel and Faith. But they never served a purpose - except having fun with Riley and Angel - so they'll stay in my head too.)

Anyway, thanks to some lovely wine tonight, I have hit that 'Oh I know exactly what kinda feel this story needs' state of mind. I hope it stays because it's lovely. Mmmm, writing. :)

13557 / 20000 words. 68% done!

Timelord magic?
But of course! There's always a logical explanation.

'AND NOW THEY SHALL HAVE HAPPY THINGS AND GOOD TIMES AND FUN AND NO ANGST!'
I APPROVE THIS MOTIVATION VERY HARD. HAPPY FIC WRITERS UNITE.

(The curlers! I'd forgotten the curlers!)
The curlers were fantastic in their useless silliness <3

Here, have a cookie! :)
Eeeee! *nom, nom, nom*

And, if it's crack, then you can generally smuggle all kinds of clever stuff past people and make them think.
Well, there's very little smuggling, in truth. It's all about as subtle as an anvil. But the genius of the format is that then the characters can complain about how un-subtle it all is, about how they're being forced to voice fan opinion, why are we stuck answering to this author?, etc., etc. (I didn't come up with the meta format, btw, I stole it from some fics in the kinkmeme, this one being the best example. A lot of it's not gonna make much sense if you're not already familiar with large swathes of the kinkmeme, but the basic idea is you have a white, featureless space; the characters are aware they're characters and know about the meme, the prompts, the readers, etc; the characters have opinions about the things they're made to do in fic; and Amy and the Author get the Doctor drunk and then they all have a debate about how to fill the prompt they're in. I know the first time I read it I decided it was approximately the best thing I had ever read, ever.)

Which reminds me - here is a very silly little ficlet set during The Lodger. Still makes me giggle just thinking about it.
I have seen that one before, on your recommendation I believe. Still funny.

ETA: Also, it makes me v. happy to introduce you to Doctor/Master (as it were), since that was the ship for me, until Doctor/River snuck up on me.
Lol, then I'm happy that you're happy. It's all been very edifying and think-y making.

I was absolutely certain that I'd never ship Doctor/human, but then River told me that I was stupid and she was awesome, and that was that.
Haha. Yes, she gets like that. She orders me around in my brain quite a lot, and then there is fic. Well, ok, it's less ordering and more making snarky and irrefutable arguments, but the effect is the same =D
