Have now reached the stage where the story lives in my head all the time. I constantly find myself distracted when trying to watch TV f.ex., because instead of concentrating on what's on the screen I'll be mentally polishing a conversation, or realising that I need to add another few lines, or a description, or a reaction somewhere, or working through a motivation, piecing together how so-and-so would behave in the particular circumstances I've set up. It's related to what RTD calls 'the maybe' - or rather, the job of fine tuning it and pinning it down, honing it until it's just right, getting rid of all the maybes until you've got what you want.
