elisi: Living in interesting times is not worth it (Spike/Connor by jackaholic)

s8 #38. Not a review.

First of all, a couple of theories. First one of my own, inspired by the way most of fandom assumes crash positions pre-comic book day: Joss is the First and all of s8 is therefore nothing more than shadows and ghosts used to torment us.

Secondly one by [livejournal.com profile] eowyn315 re. Spuffy fans, perfectly illustrated by this very snaggable icon (the creator - as far as I know - wishes to go uncredited):

Anyway, it also helps to illustrate why I've decided to jump ships. When it comes to the comics, I've decided, I am shipping Spike/Connor. After all, in AtF they became BFFs and Angel christened them 'Hollywood's newest it-couple' all of which makes them pretty canon in my opinion. Plus, it seems as if Spike will escape s8 with his characterisation intact (WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE?) and Connor clearly doesn't exist, which means that my ship is safe. :)

Same procedure as every month! (This isn't getting old. *g*)

I've taken on the analogy that Spike Fans = Spike, Joss = Buffy. Spike fans, like Spike, keep thinking that if we just stick around long enough and believe hard enough that one day Joss will give just a tiny bit of love in return. But Joss/Buffy always returns to the early seasons of 'glory' and Spike and Spike are always left wondering whether anything that happened since then actually mattered to anyone but us.

Joss = Buffy. "Does it have to mean something?"

Haha, what a perfect analogy.
