Please tell me that I wasn't the only one to hear of this story (a controversial American scheme wants to visit Bristol and pay drug users and alcoholics to be sterilised) and immediately thought of Miss Schuster-Slatt?

(Dorothy Sayers had the best names for her characters!)

I've never heard of the book, sorry, but that article is... Argh. Are they mad? *grrs* And by the by, I'm running a fanfiction request meme atm. I only have one letter left to be claimed, so if either you or Miss M would like a free fanfiction ~1000 words, the letter is Y. Just tell me a fandom, characters, and a word starting with Y and I'll get right on it. The meme can be found here, but I wouldn't show the actual post to Miss M if she wants a fic, 'cause some of the requests were rather mature.

Miss Schuster-Slatt is a character in 'Gaudy Night' (published in the mid-thirties!) - she's an American and works for an organisation that seeks to sterilise 'the unfit'... (She's not horrible, just incredibly American and OTT.)

Miss M is VERY excited about having a fic written for her:

Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: The Doctor, the Master, Amelia.
Word: Yacht

(She's pretty much made up a story herself already, but I told her that she'll have to wait and see what you come up with! *g*)
