Exactly. I think this is why it's so fan-ficcy (in the bad sense) - it's all turning in on itself, with a cracktastic plot added to get everyone to do stuff that'd otherwise be OOC.
Though I wonder, if you have to give half your characters a personality transplant to even fit them into your story, why write about them at all.
It would have been a far better disguise than the mask... Though it probably would have made much difference, the Buffyverse military would follow everyone.
