I will never, ever get tired of that gif. And oh, that comic... I'd prepared myself for the worst and then it was just... ridiculous. With ugly sprinkles on top! ;)
Brilliant, aren't they? That one especially. (Oh DoctorDonna... You really ought to watch S4 of DW, just for Donna's sake. She's awesomeness on a truly fabulous scale.)
I read it too now and I don't think I have much of a reaction, except that I don't like the characters anymore, non of them, not even Spike.
And if there's anything I find even more dull than the characters it's the plot around the red egg.
Sure there is subtext you can spin in positive ways if you work really really hard, but that's the last issue written by Joss, after that it's handed over to Allie, who probably thinks subtext means he has to bring back the superkewl submarine for the finale and wait for....it speaks now!
I agree. There are things to support the theory, things that say THIS IS NOT RIGHT, but there have always been those and they've yet to come through with it. Joss and Co. have to work a lot more to get optimism from me.
All the ship crap aside, I don't care much for what the story is and the aborted baby/universe thing is all kinds of distress-causing and not in a good way. The phrase 'space hymen' should never be used by anyone and I'm not entirely sure we're not supposed to be suspicious of Spike in this.
Regarding Buffy's reaction to Spike, if it weren't for her apparently not giving two figs about Dawn, I'd put a little more faith her being defensive. But with the rest of her characterization in the comics, I think she just doesn't care. Maybe she's mojo'd or whatever, but I don't think she's hiding anything in that exchange.

There were a few things that made me cross, but then the utter ridiculousness of the whole thing overcame me again and I just had to laugh. I thought it'd be bad but not... *stupendously* so.
And if there's anything I find even more dull than the characters it's the plot around the red egg. BUT IT'S A BIG RED EGG! *can't keep a straight face* A BIG RED EGG! I'll be you anything that now they'll need to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow...
Sure there is subtext you can spin in positive ways if you work really really hard You apart from the fact that it's hysterically funny and makes EoT look restrained?

Man, you're clueless, when it's so obvious from all the forshadowing that only a tachyon impulse can solve this mess!
I can't be bothered to read the comic as I'd quite like to remember the characters as they were on my TV screen not badly drawn pod people, but I must admit the reactions are interesting!
My biggest regret about the whole mess is that it's made me lose my respect for Joss's storytelling abilities, which was very shaky after "Dollhouse" anyway.
I will probably read them at some point when I'm in the mood for "hysterically, hilariously bad" *g*.

Must go an do something useful now and not ponder how Joss has managed to assassinate the character of his heroine. I liked Buffy, damn it (and as long as I ignore the comics I still do)!
I think GIFs are probably the best way to express opinions about the comic - why bother to write long essays when the comics themselves seem to have been done with minimal effort :)
And this GIF perfectly expresses what I think about Joss and the comics right now:

Isn't it just? I could watch it forever. ♥
And you are VERY WISE not to read the comics, for lo, they are terrible. Or just hysterically, hilariously, bad, as the case might be...
