And here is a script for getting rid of the x-posting options on your own LJ. And it comes with such straightforward instructions that even *I* could do it! \o/ It's not so much the privacy issue (since I'm sure that my flist is awesome like that), but more that the buttons were ugly.

I'm not sure this is clear from that post, but -- as with the other scripts around, that one also kinda only works for the individual using it. Sure, everyone seeing your post in the customized mode won't see the buttons, but if anyone is like me -- I'm on a forced ?style=mine view for all of LJ -- the buttons will be there. I mean, I can see them in this very comment box right now.

Well that's awkward. I hope LJ will clear it all up soon so we won't have to rely on scripts that only partly work. :(

I'm worried that people think *any* of the available scripts actually solve anything. Unfortunately, none of them do, because there's no way to customize the default comment page.

I just saw this and went WHAT?? Yes, the buttons are ugly and just extra clutter I do not care for. Thanks for the code link, I'll definitely be checking this out.
