Personally, I think rm is wrong, although I think the word "warning" is a little extreme. I prefer "advisory."
When I read fic rated NC-17, I'm doing so *for the porn*. Ergo, I like to read fic that fits my kink. Slash, for whatever reason, does not float my boat, pitch my tent, turn me on, whatever euphemism one chooses. Not even IRL. I know this because I've tried.
So I strongly appreciate when an author advises me, in advance, whether or not their story is going to serve the purpose I like my NC-17 fic to serve.
