Turning the silly up to Eleven...
First of all,
chloris67 has a post on the special Confidential and Eleven which echoes my thoughts exactly! And it also has a gorgeous picspam of the Tennant bits, which were very distracting...
But onto the silly...
zanthinegirl, this is for you! Remember that little scene I mentioned? Well I wrote it down - because the Doctor needs someone ribbing him about his new face! ;) Ficlet & notes under cut.
A/N: (Set in my 'Not the Last' verse.) In brief, this is a few days after the Doctor has regenerated. The Seeker (the Master’s son, brought up by the Doctor) is at this point around 150 and still in his first body (he has spent most of his life living in linear time, so a lot more time has passed for him than for the Doctor) and he looks like he is in late middle age. (And by the way, it is very hard to write a character you have never actually seen in action. So my Eleven is very Ten-like I’m afraid...)
ETA: Have re-written this fic with the *actual* Eleventh Doctor, if anyone wants that as well! :)
The More Things Change...
The Doctor and the Seeker enter the lobby of a hotel where the Doctor thinks something strange is going on, and walk up to the desk.
Eleven: Now, we are here to-
Seeker (cuts in): I believe we have a reservation? The name is Saxon.
Eleven (turns to him): What?
Seeker: I called ahead. I know you like to make life difficult for yourself, but...
Receptionist: Ah, yes, here you are. Mr Alexander Saxon? Two single rooms for you and... (hesitates) your son?
Seeker (beams): Yes! Yes, my son. My son John, as a matter of fact.
Eleven (through clenched teeth): You are so going to pay for this!
Seeker: Now now, watch your language Junior!
Eleven: *glowers*
Seeker: *smirks*
Receptionist: If you could just sign here... Thank you. And your digi-keys. Dinner will be served at seven. Do you have any luggage?
Seeker: We like to travel light. I presume you have shops on the premises?
Receptionist: Of course.
Seeker: Great. Come on son, let's go take a look at our rooms and freshen up!
They walk off.
Eleven: What was all that for?
Seeker: We are in the system now, makes life easier. I know that you prefer to just turn up and pretend to blend in, but I thought it'd be nice to have a bed to fall into if things take a little longer than expected. Not as young as I was, sonnie!
Eleven (scowls): You won't be keeping that body forever you know.
Seeker (smiling beatifically): True, but it should be good for quite a while yet! Unlike you I don't spend my time gallivanting around the universe looking for trouble and constantly getting into life-threatening situations!
Eleven (incredulous): Gallivanting?
Seeker: You know, I think your DNA knows what it's doing, furnishing you with increasingly younger and fitter bodies. It strikes me as a rather blatant attempt at giving itself the optimum chance of survival. Clever. (looks Eleven over) Also, I'm beginning to realise why River always calls you 'Pretty Boy' - not that you weren't youthful before, and you had a certain boyish charm, but now... (raises eyebrow)
Eleven (sternly and not at all amused): Stop. It.
Seeker (puzzled): Hey, don't get your knickers in a- oh!
Eleven: 'Oh' what?
Seeker: This is what Dad said too, isn't it? (starts laughing) How long are you going to keep him locked up for?
Eleven (grimly): Until he learns some manners!
Seeker (still hugely amused): Well that could take a while, Pretty Boy! Anyway, where do you reckon we should begin looking for your mysterious thing of mysteriousness?
Eleven (gratefully grasping the change of topic): Down this way!
But as they walk the Doctor can't help but wondering out loud...
Eleven (scrutinising the Seeker): Why are you here?
Seeker: I'm helping out!
Eleven: No... you've been attached to me like a limpet ever since you saw my new face, even though you have some experiment in a critical state... Spill - or you're grounded too!
Seeker (grins): OK - I'm hanging around until you run into Jack. Or he runs into you, whatever. I want to see his face when he first sets eyes on the new you!
Eleven: ...
Seeker: Oh come on! He'll think that he's finally died for good and gone to heaven! You know, you really ought to give him a kiss now and again, at the very least - it's tragic the way he pines in vain.
Eleven: I've said this before, but that man is a *terrible* influence on you!
Seeker (dryly): Not as terrible as your outfit.
Eleven: Enough! (stops) Oh. Hold on. Do you feel that?
Seeker: I do...
Eleven (suddenly excited): Well let's have a look at what's behind door number one!
Using his sonic screwdriver he opens a door with a large 'Private' sign on it to reveal a scene that has no place in a nice hotel.
Nasty looking aliens: Intruders! (twenty weapons are immediately aimed at the Timelords)
Seeker (sighing deeply): And now I'm remembering why I stopped travelling with you... New you, same old trouble.
Eleven: *grins*
And that's all folks!

Eleven: ...
...and he's not the only one. Heh. I love the father-son/son-father banter here, and as much as I still wanted it to be Dylan Moran (or OK, Paterson Joseph would do in a pinch), I'm starting to look forward to all the reactions from people who knew the Doctor before when they run into Eleven... I expect it to be a little like that old Blackadder episode where William Pitt The Younger turns out to be about 14 years old.
Edmund: Mr. Pitt is the Prime Minister, sir.
Prince George: Oh, go on! Is he? What, young Snotty here?

Indeed. Jack's will be interesting, but I'm really looking forward to Martha's... (also, v. effective way of getting over her crush!). And I'm desperately hoping that we see more of River - he's going to look like her toyboy! *g*

Thank you! Once I'd thought of it, I had to have some fun with it. And there's no one in canon who could really be this cheeky with the Doctor. (Jenny is too young herself to pull it off, and so's Simm's Master.) I do love my little AU! :)

Oooh, that never occurred to me. Would have been interesting!

*laughs* I so want to re-watch that now, and have none of them on tape or disk... *is sad* (Brilliant idea though, Blackadder is genius!)

I liked this story very much. I have to go back and read your verse.

So I am discovering! (I love picspams generally, partly because it's something I never have the time for myself...)
I liked this story very much. I have to go back and read your verse.
Squee! Squee! Squee! (I adore my little AU verse, but it only has the tiniest handfull of readers, so you just made my day! *does the happy dance*) Index here for when you find the time!
*ENORMOUS HUGS BACK*

hee!
'm hanging around until you run into Jack. Or he runs into you, whatever. I want to see his face when he first sets eyes on the new you!
Honestly, 11's apparent age makes Jack/ Doctor slash sort of horrifying. But I am looking forward to the big reveal. And you know it's coming!
But Martha might be fun. And Donna, trying to figure out if he's the younger brother of one of her friends...
I'm also hoping for more Jenny...

Both, of course, as light and fluffy as can be... ;)
hee!
As you know, it just wrote itself!

Bwahahaha! Although Ianto is only 24... (or is it 23?)
But I am looking forward to the big reveal. And you know it's coming!
I love this show so, so, so much! (Yes I am far from ready to say goodbye to Ten. But I'm still - with much glee - looking forward to Eleven appearing! *g*)

Martha should be VERY interesting. And I don't suppose we'll ever see Donna again... *is sad*
I'm also hoping for more Jenny...
Oh absolutely! Although with Eleven they'll look like brother and sister... *ponders* Maybe they'll save her return for 12?
Anyway, very pleased you liked my silliness, I had lots of fun writing it. And I've almost finished the last chapter of 'To Save A Life'. Christmas was rather awkward in that respect...

Great story! I know I read the first few of the series since I remember the Seeker but I need to go back and read the others.
Seeker: This is what Dad said too, isn't it? (starts laughing) How long are you going to keep him locked up for?
I love how much fun The Seeker is having with the Doctor's new face and how little of a sense of humor the Doctor has about it. It could be a few centuries before the Master learns any manners.
It's too bad that we probably won't get anyone's reaction to Eleven who knew Ten. (except maybe Jack if Torchwood is still around)

Totally my pleasure. a) It saves me writing my own post and b) People need to be told of DT picspams!
Great story! I know I read the first few of the series since I remember the Seeker but I need to go back and read the others.
Thank you! :) And I hope you like the other stories - there's not an awful lot yet, but give it time... this verse breeds bunnies like you wouldn't believe!

I swear this just wrote itself once I started thinking about Eleven - I've always known that he'd show up in this AU, and often wondered what he'd be like, but realising how young he'd be in comparison with the Seeker all I could feel was glee! (And yes, the Seeker is having a ball, knowing all the buttons to press. The Doctor is already on edge after the Master mocked him mercilessly.)
It could be a few centuries before the Master learns any manners.
It could indeed... ;)
It's too bad that we probably won't get anyone's reaction to Eleven who knew Ten.
I'm counting on Martha & Jack, definitely. And if they bring back the Master I might explode from happiness!

The future Eleven/Jack encounter is very tempting. Don't you feel tempted?
