Remember To Vote!!!

Sure the system is flawed, and we've not got an Obama (or a Saxon for that matter), the country is in a funk and whoever gets elected will have to make some very drastic cuts somewhere - but we still live in a democracy, and every single vote matters! So go vote - even if it's Monster Raving Loony Party. Actually they have some good ideas! :)

*

Our local polling station is in a small Methodist Church - very simple and bare, but with posters such as this one looking down on you as you make up your mind where to put your X:

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Romans 14.12

I think this is not a bad thing.

(I tried to explain voting to the Cherub, using Obama as an example of people having to choose between two different things. Her response? "Can I have an Obama mask to dress up in?" But then I guess these concepts are a little beyond 4 year olds... *g*)

I was going to write more (Think of the BBC!!!), but school just called and said that Miss M is not feeling well and could I come and get her? I swear she was FINE when we said goodbye less than an hour ago, and I JUST GOT IN!

*grumbles and puts on shoes and coat again*

See you later.

ETA: V. interesting article (whether you agree with it or not) from The Times here: Unsure how to vote? My contortions may help

I so agree - I especially notice this when I see other countries queueing to vote - vote being rigged etc.

We take that freedom for granted.

My mum went and counted ballots. She wouldn't do it again, people 'accidentally' miscounting, putting piles of votes in the wrong place, using spoilt ballots to bulk up another candidates score.

So its not 100 percent fair.

I tried to explain the importance of voting to my six-year-old. Her response? But mummy, you wouldn't let me vote for the dancers on TV. I'll try again next time.
Sadly, we don't have a MRL candidate in Oxford. But then we don't have a BNP/UKIP candidate either, so I'm mostly happy.

I like that verse! Good choice for a church banner this particular day for sure.

Interesting article! And LOL re: Cherub's Obama mask!
