PEOPLE NEVER CHANGE!

For those of you dismayed at fandom's 'The New Doctor Has Saved/Destroyed The Show', I give you (via [livejournal.com profile] doctoreleven) The Radio Times Letters Page from 24 November 1966 (shortly after the Second Doctor had replaced the First).

Bwaa-haa-haa-- perfect!

I'm avoiding the forums at the moment because they make me crazy. I probably ought to make that a rule, actually. But amused to see that not that has changed in 40+ years!

These are wonderful! Patrick Troughton, my Doctor! I loved him ever since watching him play Alan Breck Stewart in Kidnapped on the BEEB!!!

Patrick Troughton? played Alan Breck Stewart? Oh my God, I want to see this so much!!!!

He was wonderful. In black and white, of course, but he came fizzing off the TV screen. I have no idea if any of that film still exists. It was a serial for children's TV, before he appeared as Dr Who.

The more things change, the more they remain the same:)

Not surprising. It took me a quite a few years to get over Tom Baker (my Doctor) being replaced. I didn't tune in again until Eccleston.

I saw the first 2 episodes this past weekend and, oh my, isn't he fun! I'm going to enjoy this run.

Wow. That's quite a gap.

Well, It was aided and abetted by the fact that I'm here in the US and BBC America hadn't been invented yet. I'm not even sure we *got* several of the intervening Doctors over here on our PBS channels.
