Thanks for linking to this discussion -- I love reading them, but I'm still such a noob that I'm comment-averse. I'm full of thoughts on these, but I may not have the whole Whoverse in my grip tight enough to make sense.
So instead of being all dumb in front of a thread-load of commenters, I'll just tell you: nothing good came of Ten taking Donna's memories, just as it didn't for Angel -- the delusion of godhood leads them to their ends. (That's why I prefer to believe Angel died in that alley -- he deserved to, as much as I adore him.)And I hated Ten a little for giving the lotto wedding gift, even though I believe that the pre-doctor Donna would have loved it more than anything. But overall, in the case of lie-to-me tales, it's Twn and Angel who carry the burdens of those lies -- and the lies seal their fates as doomed men.

THE DOCTOR: I don't need anyone. DONNA: Yes, you do. Because sometimes, I think you need someone to stop you.
Actually I LOVE that this was referred to in EoT:
Wilf: And how about you? Who’ve you got now? The Doctor No one. Travelling alone. I thought it was better. [shrugs, agony on his face, on the verge of tears again] But I did some things – it went wrong. I need…
ANYWAY. Yes. As Nixon once said (from memory): 'It doesn't matter what you did, it's the lie that'll get you'.
And thank you lots for coming over here. I adore rambling! :)
ETA: Realised that I should point out that green_maia is newer to the Whoniverse than you, having torn through the show within the last month(ish). So you should totally go over there and ramble too, if you want to! :)

I need coffee. Thanks for letting me ramble.
