Re-posted from earlier.
(Because obviously I shouldn't post first thing in the morning. Or maybe my fic is all self-explanatory?)
Fic meme:
Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.
All my fic here. (Actually, feel free to ask any kind of fic-related question. I want to focus on something other than housework!)

Yay! Let's see what I can do whilst folding laundry...
Well, I have to admit that first and foremost I was just being silly. It all just wrote itself, since Angel quite simply couldn't help himself - he doesn't get the upper hand very often. :)
But it was also a bit of show-don't-tell. I wanted the readers to know that Spike was dating Buffy, that Angel OK with that, and that the two of them (Spike and Angel) were on good (/friendly) terms, but would still use any opportunity to take the piss out of each other. And of course make clear that they *weren't* sleeping together, but still had that UST thing going on ('arguing far too much').
Then there were various nods to continuity - Andrew's speech (which I love), Angel's artistic talents and his penchant for nuns... All of which were neat, but also help Jack to accept that Spike isn't John, since he can see how the two vampires obviously have their own history (and don't really care about Jack, except as something to use against each other).
And of course there's the fact that Spike doth protest entirely too much... *g*
