Doctor Who vid rec!
Marble House by
hollywoodgrrl. (Spoilers for everything, up to, and including, 'The Next Doctor'.)
I can't begin to explain in words why this vid is so astonishing. (Not yet, anyway. At some point I'll do the essay thing!) Although someone mentioned that it is probably the best answer to the questions posed by Handlebars, which is a good observation. It certainly has the same level of impact, although for different reasons. (*flaily hands*) And not only is it very clever, and very deep, but also exquisitely beautiful and well-crafted.
Vids do not come better than this, trust me.
ETA: It reminded me of this drabble, which is the single best [Doctor Who] drabble ever written. No spoilers:
"Yeah, I know what an allegory is," said Ace.

Great vid, thanks for the rec! Oddly enough I just sat down and watched "Handlbars" yesterday, so fresh in my mind. The new one is brilliant and gorgeous and makes me want to sit down with season 3 instead of getting all the stuff done today that I really need to get done.
It's a little odd-- all things being equal, season three is probably my least favorite of new who. But it has such brilliant episodes! Well, i say "brilliant" and mean the the first couple and the last half of the season. Well, always excusing the Doctor-Jebus Deus ex machina, which I do, because JOHN SIMM- Master.
:D
And I do love that drabble! I may have to actually watch some seventh Doctor!

That is a new word to me, but quite appropriate. I think I'll have to change it again though, once I get round to finishing & posting fic... (I'm working on a COE fix it, btw. It's tricky. And doesn't fix things.)

I think I know Handlebars by heart by now... And Marble House is quickly catching up! And I really, really want to re-watch Human Nature/Family of Blood...

It's between 3 and 4 for me (as which season is my *favourite*!), and although I think I *like* 4 more, what with Donna and her awesomeness, then s3 was the season that hooked me and that has the most interesting themes by far! I just wish the season overall was better... *kicks Daleks in Manhattan*

Drabble is awesome! And I keep hearing about Seven and Ace, so I'm right there with you!

4 is my favorite-- I just adore Donna and her relationship with the Doctor. She's exactly what he needs-- she doesn't let him get too wrapped up in the angst, and she's never anything but an equal. Rose and Martha were really never equals, much as I love them both. And I will love Donna forever for putting her hands on that lever in Fires of Pompeii. Oh, and that hug at the end of Midnight.
So much Donna love!
The Daleks take Manhattan makes me cringe, and I'm not to excited by Gridlock (though cute kittens!) or the Lazarus experiment. And I though 42 was too much a re-hash of season 2's Satan Pit/ impossible planet. Though it holds up better on rewatch!
I love, love, love Human Nature/ Family of blood and Blink all the way through to the end.
But I don't love Martha's unrequited love for the doctor. It makes me cringe a little, and I wish they hadn't done that. Poor Martha! I think her character deserved better writing.

Not that much to be honest. It's tricky to explain, and probably not at all what you expect.
And it really can't fix things and still resonate, can it? Or maybe that's just me!
Oh no, not just you! As I said, it's a fix-it that doesn't fix things. I just don't know what else to call it. (I'm also working on a Rhiannon-meets-Jack one-shot, the sequel to My Immortal, and the story of Allison and Alexander. I need more writing time!)

Oh Donna is *definitely* my favourite companion! For all the reasons that you list and more besides. :)

I *adore* Gridlock, but all the others are pretty awful. ::is sad:: What redeems them, more or less, is that they do a good job of carrying the themes of the season.
I love, love, love Human Nature/ Family of blood and Blink all the way through to the end.
Same here. It's such an odd season - half is terrible, the other half brilliant!
Poor Martha! I think her character deserved better writing.
::nods:: The only positive thing is the way it helps her bond with Jack (and vice versa) - I like the fact that they understand each other so well. :)
