This and that.
First of all Happy Birthday
wisemack! Hope your day is wonderful and that the coming year brings only good things!
Second, then I cannot summon any kind of outrage at the 'new Buffy' movie (presuming it'll ever get made). Who cares? (If Joss does get involved, then I'll be scared.season 8 'Twilight' is bad enough.)
Third, is the Dreamwidth market saturated? I still have a couple of invites in case anyone wants one!
ETA: Don't think I ever pimped this video, which I ought to:

thedothatgirl: Season 7 Overview - can Buffy turn the tide in the Battle against the First Evil?
I adore this video, which does a wonderful job of highlighting so many of the things I love about S7! (So dark, so bleak, and yet and yet... *happy sigh*) Just go watch it, OK?

I already sounded off on this at the TtH forums. The Kuzuis were shrewd enough to create the deal that gave them the rights to the 'Buffy Brand' back in '92. I doubt they're dumb enough not to at least give Joss the chance to contribute. They know how good he is at using the net to rally the troops. Joss is kind of busy right now with his own horror movie, so I'm pretty sure he'll demure.
I think a lot of the people who are upset are holding onto the dream that there will be a 'Buffy' movie with the original cast. Which is not going to happen, because the actors have grown up, moved on, and aren't that interested.
As for me, as long as they are respectful to the concept, I wouldn't mind seeing a rework. I wouldn't see it as any more canon than the comics...well the Buffy comics. AtF is good enough it is almost my canon (Aftermath, not so much). Then again, I'm also enough of a realist that I realize the 40 and 45(?) year old men ain't going to be playing 20 something looking vamps ever again on film.
If nobody else wants one, I wouldn't mind an invite, if only to secure my name.

Well they've not talked to him yet, so... maybe they really are that dumb?

A 'Buffy' movie with the original cast is the *last* thing I want. ::clings to TV show::

*I* think they should go with Joss' original idea and make 'Mona the Incredible Waitress'. :)

As far as I can see it's all about jumping on the bandwagon in an attempt to make money. *shrugs*
Yes, I know. Only in fantasy!
Oh I don't know, it very nearly became canon...
(I posted more MI yesterday, in case you missed it?)

Ouch. But yes - io9 wrote an article yesterday, saying how the film might be a good thing, and noted how the comics have gone downhill, suggesting that Joss really doesn't have anything more to say about these characters!
