So...
I am bored. I'm *trying* to do housework, but the Cherub has attached herself to me in manner of tentacled limpet, which makes things difficult.
So - for anyone else who might be bored: What three words would you use to describe the Doctor?
(Or the Master or Jack or Buffy or Angel or whoever. It all began because of the new banner and thinking about the Seeker, whom I'd describe as 'Curious, pragmatic and self-sufficient'.)

How about "fleeting constant agent"?
...maybe not, but it's tricky. It's much easier with the guy in my icon.

Heh. It really is - he only needs one! (ETA: Meant to use this icon...)

My Doctor (post-time war, natch): Charming/Confident, self-loathing, Scary.
(Sorry for the cheat!)
Basically, My Doctor is THIS Doctor.

That is MY Doctor too! (I have actually been re-watching that vid over and over these last few days... Mmmm, Doctor.)
Now, to find a word that says charming & confident simultaneously...

ANYWAY....
I'm sure there is a word I'm just far too lazy to figure it out. :D

::nods:: I still remember getting actual chills the first time I watched it. And the fact that he is both the happy-go-lucky guy with the big grin, and also the Oncoming Storm ("I've seen whole armies turn and run away. And he'd just swagger off back to his TARDIS and open the doors with a snap of his fingers.") is what continues to make me flail.
You can't even say he's a mirror of the Master anymore because I think he's skating a bit too close to the line.
Did you read my essay? Actually, if you ever find the time I think you'd like my AU 'verse, since a lot of it is exploring the Doctor/Master dynamic.

Brilliant
Fun
(*Only used because "full of himself" was more than one word.)

Indeed. Which is why this is so tricky... he's awfully wordy! :)

I think
ETA: Oh, or maybe 'No second chances!'

Bouncy, self-assured, scary that's as close as I can come, and I'm cheating with that hyphen...
no subject
Oh hyphens are absolutely allowed! And I love your words - actually I'm very happy that I made this post, everyone's suggestions are brilliant!

Yes. And three words are not enough for *anyone*...
Which I suppose is what makes is such an interesting exercise.

Oh I know the feeling. *squishes Angel* (Also you're going to love 'Divided Destiny' once I finish it... Just sayin'! *g*)
Which I suppose is what makes is such an interesting exercise.
Indeed. I am totally failing at thinking of three words myself.

Doctor: changing, whirling, Lost (as in the Tardis all the time)
Jack: Lover, Phoenix, Justice. Not the best, but all I can come up with. I always though Phoenix would make a perfect symbol for a time lord.

I wondered what had happened. :)
And I like all your words very much - especially Phoenix!

Angel: Father, King, Broody
Buffy: Queen, loner, Saver
Edit: I see Angel, Buffy and Spike as a trinity. With Acourse Angel and Buffy being the King and Queen. And Spike being the Knight or Foolish Knight which isn't always a bad thing in fairytales, most actually end up well. With Buffy and Angel loving and againtist each other, and Spike the messenger/second of their's end between. You can also see Buffy as Light, Angel as Darkness, and Spike as Shadow. The Third power, might not be as powerful, but is the balance and the weight that decides which comes first. Spike first pushed Buffy up in her fight, then he went to Angel to fight with him. Know though after what has happened in the comics, with us knowing Spike loves Angel who would he choose to support ? Because if it came to war between Buffy and Angel, who's second would be ? I could see them actually fighting over this, and just not sexually. I had an idea where the power of the world ends up divided purified through Angel's and Buffy's gang. With the most powerful Light and Darkness going into Angel and Buffy. Know I am not talking evil or good, but just those powers. Their is good in darkness, as their is evil in the light. With Spike being the third power, Shadow. Neither light nor dark, but helps to define the others. Spike being Spike decides to go againist the norm, and refuse the power. Either he is dying or something. Buffy in a panics, forces the power on him. Just as she was taken from Heaven, Buffy takes Spike away from oblivion, or his actual goal of a an ending. She panics, so in a sense she ends up doing what was done to her, and ends up in Willow's position thinking the worse and trying to save Spike when in fact she isn't.
That breaks Spike up from Buffy, and he turns to Angel's side. Allowing the darkness not evil or good to remain in the world, that those who don't fit in the light or have commited sin to have a second chance.

As for the light/dark/shadow, then I might use the word 'twilight' instead (stripped of all unfortunate connotations!) - that is, the place where darkness and light, or day and night, meet.
I wish I had something more profound to offer, but it's getting late here. Thank you so much for your comment though, you made me think!

Oh yes Twilight, that is good something I haven't thought off.
I got the idea off
With Dawn being his opposite.
Oooh, now that's neat! And I like the re-birth (changing, evolving) idea too.
And turning very poetic, meta-heavy ideas into stories is a total pain - either something gets lost, or the story won't work... (unless you're Kita, but very, very few people can write like that.)

I had the idea of the greek God Zeus, and his cupbearer Ganymede who basically his catamite. The idea of seeing Angel and Spike's relationship that way and be worhiped as such would have really made Spike mad. Or if you go with alot of pagan religions with Angel being the seat of Zeus, giving him a harem of wives. With Darla being the first, Dru the second, and Spike being the third queen(also an insult), Buffy his top or fourth queen, with Cordy just being Queen C or his last one. And in reality in a few thousand years the one he is most with, other than with Spike which Cordy tolerates over Darla. Dru is caged and making up what she did in life, and working her way towards sanity. For Dru, after a few thousand years I see her and Dawn having a secret affair. Not known to many except for maybe Spike and Tara. With Dawn having finally forgiving Spike and her being the only Scobbie other than Tara who will talk to Spike. Or the only ones he will see at all of the Scobies.

I love the idea of taking different Spikes and putting them together - really hope you'll be able to pull it off one day!
